confessions of an (airheaded) mugger

Victoria
Bet you thought this was going to be witty. But in the interest of Internet safety and all that jazz, I shall refrain from divulging highly sensitive information, including age, telephone number, and weight. I guess a name is ok though; how else will you know it's me? (But seriously, kids, don't talk to strange old men on the Internet)
I do adore owls though. But you already knew that so I guess that's ok too.

You know what would be really cool for the karaoke competition thing?

If we rickrolled the audience.

Like "CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN YOU FEEEEEEL THE- Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, run around, or hurt you!"

Oh my gosh rickrolls are so cool. They wanted to rickroll the xkcd school in Laos, but that would be just mean D: Because it is after all an internet meme and I don't think the xkcd school in Laos has internet.

Hmm pretty amusing someone commented on youtube that Rick Astley looks like Obama. (Apparently they did an Obama rickroll too!)

Sheesh I've been thinking about rickrolling the whole day for some weird reason. I'm really itching to rickroll something. And you know, being an AV person, I could totally abuse my powers and do that. Like at Arts Fest. (Can't say it wouldn't be an improvement :D)

Kidding. I'm not going to rickroll the audience. Although that would be a pretty big achievement.

If anyone gets rickrolled at Arts Fest, I didn't do it.

Q: Do you think Oscar the Grouch is a Capitalist, Snuffaluffagus is a Communist and Big Bird is a Socialist?

Because Oscar is greedy and doesn't like to share, Snuffaluffagus is considered to be imaginary except when Big Bird sees him, and Big Bird likes to be an organizer and make other people share?

A: No, no, no--you have to look at the lifestyle.
Oscar lives in a trashcan, so he's likely a Communist.
Big Bird is fat and naive and runs the show, so he's likely a Capitalist.
Snuffaluffagus (whoever that is) is by default a Socialist, but I'm sure he doesn't mind.

Taken off Yahoo! Answers.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I wish people would stop sending stuff to the AV yahoogroups when they're supposed to email me DIRECTLY.

When replying I just click "reply", because I can't tell whether they sent it to the yahoogroups as a whole, or just me alone, and therefore assume that they actually are civic-minded enough to do that.

And then I get my two-liner email back in my mailbox and feel intensely guilty for spamming everyone; because they'll have received double spam by now.

--

I am feeling intensely disturbed. For some reason, I can't seem to breathe in properly. It's like I need air, but somehow just can't get enough air into my lungs.

Sigh it's probably one of those paranoia mental blocks that results from attending a first-aid course and now expecting the worse. I was reading Crystal's first aid manual because I was bored and they had all these sections on amputation and what to do if someone's arm falls off near you (although I don't think it's actually a job for a first aider :/) and miscarrying and spinal injuries AND THOSE KIND OF THINGS LA.

It annoys me that people keep trying to talk to me when I CAN'T TALK.

I usually give them this really pointed look, and then they go "Oh, you can't talk?" To which I will obviously nod, not being able to reply in the affirmative. And then they go on to ask me freaking open-ended questions, like "DUDE HOW'S LIFE" completely ignoring the fact that I can't talk.

You know, if you're going to continue trying to talk to me anyway, why bother confirming the fact that I can't talk?

It gets even worse when people call me over the phone, and I usually just grunt or mumble something that sounds vaguely like a word, and leave them to interpret what they will of it.

Goddammit, I hate onions.

I have found other Shun fangirls to have a Shuntalk about :D One of them is Lidan, and the second is Cheryl's fervent ACS admirer. I shan't mention names :D But it's hard to have a honest fangirly convo about Shun when the other party keeps bullshitting about how hot Megan Fox is.

Lidan says:
hey vic, look at this: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/10/091020181257.htm

[c=10][a=1]♥φωταύγεια; sexysixfifteener![/a][/c=36] says:

can TELL its not anything good
Lidan says:
why can't it be something you drink when on a date ><

5:49 PM

The fifth floor unit downstairs caught fire. The windows are twisted and melted and all the glass shattered. All the outer walls of a couple of units above it are horribly black. And worst of all, THE WHOLE PLACE STINKS.

Saw My Neighbour's brother and his mum downstairs at Hougang Point when I was buying food. She fed me loads of details about the fire; for some reason she even knew where it started. The brother just stood there and looked pained. For some inexplicable reason she asked me whether or not I was there when it started-- when I was in my school uniform and had that vaguely concussed look of people just coming out of school.

Walked a little further on and I saw Ms Khoo. I am taller than her now, ahahahah :D :D :D She accused me of loitering around and seemed a little unconvinced when I told her I was just there to buy food, not start a riot (I go to Parliament House for that.) (KIDDING.) But she seems a lot more cheerful now than I remembered in P4. Hmm.

Xinyuan and Crystal kept commenting about the apparent freshness of an air lacking in sarcasm and bitterness. I think it's somewhat angled at me for not being able to talk, although I disagree because I rarely ever am sarcastic or bitter even when I can talk. But just for that I tried to emnate sarcasm and bitterness extra hard even without talking just to piss them off.

OH YAH BEFORE I FORGET.

"...the other two poems, being neutral or optimistic..."

IN WHAT FREAKING WAY IS THAT SENTENCE OXYMORONIC?

4:32 PM

According to Wikipedia, Oguri Shun was featured in a movie called "Kansen", which I saw being sold in video shops awhile ago. It was one of those creepy hospital ghost shows (you know, those kind where the person dies a gruesome death and his spirit continues to haunt the building or something) and guess what he featured as?

...A concussive patient.

If you just look at the number of dramas he's done, it becomes pretty obvious that he is a BIG actor and obviously a very good one (ask any fangirl). So that obviously begs the question: WHY WOULD ANYONE SPEND SO MUCH MONEY (look, he's damn famous. His salary correspondingly can't be very low either) TO HIRE SOMEONE PRO TO ACT AS A CONCUSSIVE PATIENT?!?!

Dude, it's just a CONCUSSION. Any idiot can act as a concussive patient. All you have to do is lie down and... act concussed, dammit. SO ANNOYING CAN.

And of course now they've hooked my curiousity and I really want to watch Kansen (to find out exactly HOW you act as a concussive patient) but I don't dare to D: This is absolutely horrid.

--

Went home early from school to go see a doctor because ulcers hurt. Dunno whether I'll go tomorrow. Sigh.

Vanessa asked me if my ulcers were "self-inflicted". This worries me. I may be walking around looking like a maniac who slits her wrist or apparently, her mouth. :/Ahem. Slitting your wrists or mouth is never a good thing. Yes kids. You should never, ever, ever slit your wrists. Wrist slitting is extremely dangerous. You might end up not dying and as a concussive patient.

Then again that's not a bad idea. You could make your acting debut :D

I finished watching Hanakimi ):

I hate Jap dramas. They always end in sad endings which make me cry because the main character's crying and everyone else is crying too, which totally makes you want to cry as well.

But then everything's always put right at the end, where the protagonist's secret crush reveals that HE LIKES HER TOOOOOO and plants this huuuuuuuge kiss on her. :D :D :D :D I love Jap dramas.

And hahah the last episode was too awesome, too awesome. Not just for the kissing (I liked the Sano-Kagurazaka kiss scene better; that was just too funny) but because they had this beauty pageant this where they made all the guys crossdress. Although I can't help but feel that it's just to exploit fangirls.

But WHO CARES, seriously?! :D

(They all look like trannies in dresses though. Ugh.)

Tra la la.

All is perfect with the world! :D

Art exam is finally over; and I screwed it up majorly because 1. I didn't understand the questions and 2. I didn't know what to bs about. There was a 15 mark essay question about how a human figure was modified or something, and I just crapped up 5 (mildly repetitive) points, chunked it into a paragraph, and called it a day for that one. o.O But I mean seriously, there is only so much you can write about a darkened humanoid with biplane wings for arms. Yeah. That sentence was basically it. I think I'm pretty dead for this one. But who cares la haha it's not like I'm going to count Art into C5B2 :D :D :D

And you want to know what's even MORE perfect? :D :D :D

I can finally start marathoning Hanazakari no kimitachi e! Which I have been staring at longingly ever since I bought it in the Sept hols, and promised myself not to watch until after the exams. Shun Oguri, I have missed you SO MUCH. Welcome back to my telly :D

And I tell you, Hanakimi was MADE for fangirls. Practically all the hotguys in the Jap drama scene (or at least the hotguys I like) are in it. I have died and gone to heaven. There's Shun Oguri (Yay!) and that supervisor guy from Zettai Kareshi, who looks like a weaselly Michael Jackson, but is somehow still. You know. Hot.

(SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)

But do you want to know what's the BEST thing of all? :D

In Hanakimi, SANO IZUMI (that's Shun Oguri's character, and gosh he has the same pretty haircut, but in black! Super hot) ISN'T GAY AFTER ALL :D It turns out that he knew that Ashiya was a girl before they even got together ahahahaha. So he's not a gay guy after all :D :D :D But his best friend is. Ahem.

But hmm it kind of still calls into question their visual ability, because dammit Ashiya is SO feminine I spotted her from a mile away. And they actually couldn't tell and grabbed her boobs before turning away, all disgusted because she had "no pecs". Guys are dumb.

Yeah anyway on the bright side, I finally realise why everyone keeps going on a quest to "gain back Hanazawa Rui's/Sano Izumi's/Oguri Shun's smile". Because he's hot when he's emo and sulking, but he gets waaaaaay hotter when he's smiling. Plus we get kissing in the second episode of Hanakimi (this is for the benefit of people who judge whether or not a show is good based on how much kissing there is in it, like Crystal) because Sano Izumi is apparently really bad at holding alcohol. He gets drunk after eating some pickled plums and gets all high and happy and pushes his best friend's face in his food and grins really wide. His smile appears to have the same magical properties as Joshng's, in that his friend doesn't even sucker punch him in the stomach but instead grins back at him, thereby absolving him of ALL blame whatsoever.

And apparently when he gets drunk, he turns into "Kissman", during which he grabs the nearest person and starts kissing them until he passes out, or gets slapped, whichever comes first. And even then he goes on grinning, and looking totally hot.

OMG this is absolutely unrelated, but I WANT TO WATCH TAJOMARU :D I liked it when I watched it in RALA, and I think I'll like it even more because they have a new version starring Oguri Shun as Tajomaru. Although that's a bad guy. But oh what the heck no one actually knows for sure, because no one in Rashomon actually told the truth! Ahem.

If I receive one more bloody docx, I will grab the nearest cute thing I can find and stone it to death.

I cannot stand people (ahem RGS inet) who indiscriminately assume that every person in Singapore owns Microsoft Office 2007 and that everyone who earns less than $2000 is below poverty line. Because believe it or not, not everyone has rich tycoon daddies who will buy you new operating systems as and when they come out.

I really hope Mac has a certain kind of document that no one else running Windows can open, so that I can send it around and then go really condescendingly, "Oh, you can't open -insert extension- files? Aww. It's okay, I'll send you a -sneer- low-tech version of it."

Or I hope that Windows 7 comes out with a docy or whatever.

--

I also cannot stand people who cannot comprehend the simple fact that my exams are NOT YET OVER.

This is a typical discussion that happens:
Person: Eh want to go for a movie/other random thing that takes up time
Me: My exams are not over. I can't.
Person: Huh?! Your exams are not over?
Me: Yes. My exams are not over.
Person: How can! Your exams must be over!
Me: My exams are not over.
Person: What! I don't believe! How can your exams not be over?
Me: My exams are Not Over. I have art tomorrow.
Person: Cannot be la! Your exams are definitely over lor!
.
.
.
Me: DTSDOJYUAEIGHAISHFIASDNGSDNHDFYJWD MY EXAMS ARE NOT OVER -picks up piece of wood and clubs person over the head with it-

Kester and Rachel called me DURING Jap lesson to nag me to organize class chalet, which was so annoyingly insignificant in the face of a bloody exam tomorrow and accused me of being PMSey when I told them to stop bothering me.

Don't you two have anything better to do? Go make out in a darkened movie theatre or in a playground or something. Just leave me alone until my exams are Over!!

I cannot believe that the school supposedly wants to "cut down on our curriculum". Excuse me, but do we look like we have any trouble learning stuff?

Dammit I am going to be so bored in school.

I think I shall source for cram schools when I go to the Jap School for immersion, because I think even that would be way way way preferable to the crippled snail's pace at which we're moving right now. Frustrating.

I'm bored. I want a 6GE06 reunion ):

To end the discussion on my tagboard:

Click to enlarge and read the part that starts "Dark Rimmed Glasses". Ergo, Wesley's glasses are emo. But hmm yes bright pink ones do sound fetching.

--

Will blog about the glass eye incident later, after it's been concluded. There's still the scientific inquiry part to go, because DENISE, I CAN'T JUST SPOONFEED YOU THE ANSWERS (:

Denise poured water down herself while trying to drink at Subway, because she miscalculated the distance between her mouth and her waterbottle. A classic Deniseism.

Sigh how depressing; Macs seems to be the only place hiring for the hols but it's like, $3.50 per hour. Does anyone else want to go work at Macs? I guess even a pretty boring job could be fun if there was someone else to work with me.

In the meantime I shall endeavor to find higher paying work. ):

HEYHEYHEY.

Who wants to go reverse graffitting with me?!

We can draw Care Bears and Barney and Teletubbies! Because the world (or at least the Wanton mee shop at Far East) has too many phallic objects in it. It'll be fun. In a completely G-rated, wholesome sort of way.

Sigh the exams aren't even half over and I'm already feeling very holidayish.

You know, the day I joined programming, the world became much more beautiful.

But for the record, I hadn't heard of Hamming distances before today. But I know what strings are. And for the last question about why is it not a good method or something, I wanted to put down "BECAUSE STRING MANIPULATION IS FIDDLY AND I HATE IT."

Because I really do. Hate string manipulation, I mean. But I waffled something about taking up loads of memory space, but hello computers wouldn't really care about such little memory space.

Hmm but interestingly, their question was wrong. Redundant coding, according to Wiki, doesn't refer to the repetition of letters.

Redundant code is a computer programming term for code that computes a result that has been previously computed and is currently available, thus the repeated computation of the result is redundant.[1] If redundant code can be identified then it can be eliminated, reducing the overall computational cost of the program.

[edit] Example

int f (int x)
{
int y=x*2;
return x*2;
}

the daring wasp rescue
Tuesday, October 06, 2009

Yesterday we discovered that the 5 tubey wasp nests on our door had been joined by another two, leading to there being a grand total of 7 wasp nests.

7 wasp nests may not seem like a lot, but 7 wasps ARE.

So after a suitable amount of girlish screaming and attempting to poke them down from the door and chickening out, we all trooped down to the general office to inform Ms Christina about the wasps. One of us to represent one wasp nest.

We got sent over to the Estate Dept, where Denise and someone else explained our predicament to the guy in charge. The rest of us huddled around outside eagerly waiting for a solution. The Estate Dept guy nodded understandingly, and grabbed his can of Baygon which was attached to the top of a very, very, very long stick.

Excited with the prospect of a war against the wasps, we all whooped and danced all the way upstairs. Crystal thought that he'd use the Baygon-mace to smush the nests.

When he got upstairs, we were debating how far to stay away (in case he smushed the nests and a brazillion wasps flew out) while the Estate Dept guy opened the door and looked inside. Denise showed him the nests on the outside on the door and he peered at them for awhile.

"What? So small?" He took out his weapon of choice- a pen in his pocket- and scraped the nests off. They fell to the floor and lay there.

Bah anticlimax. Apparently he'd been expecting an army of wasps or something. He very calmly swept the nests up, and then opened the rubbish bin next to him in order to throw them in...

...AND A BRAZILLION FLIES FLEW OUT AND ATTACKED ALL OF US. I'M SERIOUS. We were batting at them with our files while rooted to the spot with shock, and woah am I glad they were just harmless little flies and NOT WASPS. And then we came to our senses and ran really far away screaming.

Girls and insects do not mix.

Oh, before I forget (and I keep forgetting things nowadays!) a quote from Mr Xu about the SS paper: "What? You're sending students to watch a Youtube video for the paper? But that's artificially increasing hits on a Youtube video! That's so... unethical!"

I think watching male teachers interact with one another is pretty interesting.

Ah yes and tagreply:
YL: HAHA YES LONG TIME NO SEE MAN. I was talking to Zhuo Sheng about you the other day! We should have a J1H reunion man. :D And no I'm not moodier! You just caught my blogposts in uh... yeah, well, a moodier mood. But I'm not. Generally. Good luck for your exams! :)

I was mugging Bio when I got a phone call. I picked up the phone and this very Kester-sounding voice asked to speak to me in Chinese. I followed my gut instinct and said: "Yes, Kester?"

There was a long pause, followed by a "Shit. She knows."

And since I was in the middle of mugging Bio and was none too pleased about today anyway, I got very annoyed at them since they started to lecture about armpit hair or something. It was Not Pleasant.

I'd thought the days of going around whispering "Tits!" in your friends' ears were over.

All the more fool I.

I hung up in the middle of their soliloquoy about armpit hair and PMS.

Later upon checking my handphone I discovered that Kester'd tried to prankcall me on my phone, which is not very wise because everyone's handphone has caller ID. Hiding identity doesn't work that well that way.

--

Today was a Bad Day. I forgot to bring my wallet to school, so I was stranded without my EZ-link card. I thought that was pretty okay and borrowed money from a lot of people, including Denise, who nearly swooned at my request. But I didn't get any from her in the end because she had no coins. ._.

I was happily walking home after having alighted from the bus and mentally congratulating myself for surviving the day without a wallet, when I reached the side gate of my condominium and reached instinctively for my backpack, when I realised that the card key was in my wallet, which was obviously not in my backpack.

That wouldn't have been so bad if that were all; I could have always walked around to the front gate. But then I realised that the side gate key wasn't the only key in my wallet-- my house key was in my wallet-- which was happily locked away in my house.

I howled the street down outside the gate.

All I can say right now is thank goodness for an air-conditioned club house and wifi-enabled phones.

"I'm nobody! Who are you? Are you a nobody too?"

Gotta love Emily Dickinson.

There are times when I wonder if I'm a nobody too. Probably am, as the only thing I'm spectacular at is being average.

Can't do piano, can't do violin, can't do Jap, can't do Lit, can't do art, can't do programming gah.

I want a Mac.

I want nobody, nobody butchiu.

GOSH I LOVE THAT LINE. The Emily Dickinson one I mean.

When I was young I used to wish I was called Emily. Ahaha some indication of later life idolization of Emily Dickinson maybe?

There's an article on Yoony's mentor in the papers today. Was surprised that Crystal didn't already know because she was the one who basically led all the questioning. I laughed so hard when the newspaper said that there was speculation about him getting removed due to political reasons. I thought the reporter has spoken to Crystal or something.

"Like, yeah, absolutely. We narrowed it down to three- no, two reasons: he got kidnapped or detained under the ISA, which is basically the same thing anyway, or he got knocked down by a car and is severely brain damaged."

And yeah Crys, he does look like Glendon. A little. :)

I like Chinese as a language and all, but does it have to be SO DRAMATIC?

I vaguely recall posting about something like this before, but it's that time of the year again and I'm mugging jia ju. And they are all overly exaggerated and go along the lines of "the future tycoons of the country" (that's you) and "the central pillars of our country" (you also) and if you don't stop playing Grand Theft Auto, you'll fall into a deep abyss of pain and suffering. And you don't ever want to make a mistake, because you'll be caged in by the shadows of fear.

In fact, all this cynicism about jia jus could be put down to the the invasion of evil winds of the West.

Suchen Christine Lim adds +5 to your blurness, causing you to be unable to notice people around you while at the same time, not getting the story :/ Maybe it's just me. I mean, Crystal doesn't notice people around her, but she probably gets the story too. I ought to be less stupid. But whatever. I am working towards that goal and I borrowed a whole lot of intelligent books from the library the other day.

Except for this book that I borrowed because it was a really pretty shade of pink.

KIDDING.

I think after EOYs are over I shall marathon Hana Yori Dango again, because I feel like I really need some love in my life. That's another one to add to the Sad Loser list; you watch other people's relationships to feel loved.

--

I'm seeing people all over the place now! Like I saw smallboi and Joseph the other day. Josie has surprisingly regressed to looking like he did in P6, caterpillar brows and all. He spluttered "Is that... Is that" for awhile when he saw me. Apparently his memory is sucky.

I was just complaining to Joshyeo about the Injustice Of Hot People.

This blogpost is quite

disjointed.

Because I want to talk but I don't know what I want to talk about.

Ooh, it's "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued". Listening to that makes me think of Perth. I miss Perth people. :D I miss Rosyth ):

I need to stop jumping around and start mugging!
