confessions of an (airheaded) mugger

Bet you thought this was going to be witty. But in the interest of Internet safety and all that jazz, I shall refrain from divulging highly sensitive information, including age, telephone number, and weight. I guess a name is ok though; how else will you know it's me? (But seriously, kids, don't talk to strange old men on the Internet)
I do adore owls though. But you already knew that so I guess that's ok too.

PHILO DISCUSSION. I LOVED IT. IT WAS EPIC FUN.

Yeah k after Mr Lee abandoned me at IT dept, I went back to the pavilion to do SS PT and then I saw Mr Ho! So I was like "OH HEY HI MR HO you taught us the philosophy of food thing right!" He was quite amused that I'd remembered, and he actually remembered me hahah! I hope it wasn't because I was annoying or anything, because I remember being quite dumb during the discussion.

After that I went up to the AVA room, and followed the whole of Philo dept over to the level 2 classrooms to rearrange the desks. Quite awesome they had all these soft toys and everything, which was what we'd been planning to do for PEPSL. Mr Ng was asking me about PEP, and I think he's really nice haha :D Most teachers are actually pretty nice people actually.

Mr Ng helped me pour out cups of guava juice and I arranged them in neat rows. Neat rows make me happy, heh. And then after that we got to eat before everyone else, even though I was a bit apprehensive about that. The teachers kept trying to push food on me :D Like Ms Ong, "Well, yeah, of course you can eat! The food is actually meant for eating, you know."

The food was quite good heh there was beehoon, some prawn thing, and gyoza and springrolls. I sat with all the teachers, because I was basically the only student there, and listened to their banter and all. Quite amusing haha they were niaoing Ms Tay, because Mr Ow wasn't back yet and if he didn't come back in time Ms Tay would have to lead the session herself. But she wasn't willing to, so she said she'd grab Mr Lim. But then Mr Lim was paired with Mr Ng, and then Mr Ng would be left alone, so he said he'd grab Ms Chua. And then Ms Chua was paired with Mr Angel, who'd then be left alone, so she'd grab someone else and so on and so forth. Free radical substitution ahaha. In the end, Ms Tay was all "Oh okay, I'll take anyone then. Except you. Never you." to Mr Ng, and Mr Ng retaliated with "Oh okay lor I'll take Victoria then." Yeah but because the turnout was smaller than expected we all got shoved into 2 rooms, and I got Mr Ow, Mr Lim, Ms Tay, and Mr Ho, and the rest went to the other group.

Ms Chua was really nice and amusing haha she was telling us about RI Philo dialogue, and how she had to conduct a Philo lesson on the spot there because the people in her group were totally confused. So I shared my favourite NY debater quote, which quite amused all of them too!

Then we went to crash the zombie movie rehearsal O: Which is partly why I'm staying up so late writing this; their makeup was super scary and I shan't be able to sleep without nightmares. D: We were worried that parents would mistake the zombie movie for our philo movie, and go inside and be all "huh?" at it. Heh.

The AVA room was freeeezing, but Mr Ho was nice and went down to fetch the remote and turn up the aircon, so for once I didn't actually freeze even without my jacket. Although I had to escape halfway through the movie and warm up for awhile outside. I LOVE PUSS IN BOOTS :D

Yep then we had the COI discussion thing in the respective classrooms. Quite scary actually everyone was quite dao at first, so being a useful non-teacher entity I had to start. Cos I was panicking I quickly crapped up something waffly, and then Mr Ow asked me which question I thought was interesting. But then I suddenly realised that I'd filed my list of questions, and that my philo file was upstairs, so I suddenly panicked and was all, "Uh, Q1 looks interesting! Whatever it is."

But then after that everyone started getting more enthu, so it was pretty fun. Even though it was mostly the teachers speaking, and not so much the parents. So they kind of passed the speaking right around amongst themselves, except for when Mr Lim asked a question and said with this totally vindictive glint in his eye: "WHAT DO YOU THINK, MS TAY?" Ms Tay was obviously not pleased, and then passed on the misery to Mr Ow, who then passed it on to Mr Ho, thankfully bypassing me :D

After the COI debriefing Mr Lim kept gloating about his snarking at Ms Tay, and I think he was like super high or something because he couldn't stop laughing about it. Mr Ow asked if I was going for the bioethics talk, which I can't go for, but he said he'd tape it, and then let us watch :D So I gave him another one of my awesomely impractical ideas; that we could watch it like the parents watched Shrek and then have another COI afterwards (one tends to get a little incoherent after 9) and he actually agreed! :D

And he followed up on my Chinese philo idea!
Mr Ow: "We'll do the Chinese philo thing, but maybe not during Saturday. Maybe a Friday?"
Me: "OH OKAY COOL THAT'S AWESOME!"
Mr Ow: "Mr Lim will do something about it ^^"
Me: "OMG he agreed? We were bugging him about it last time and he was vehemently against it!"
Mr Ow: "Well, no, I kind of haven't asked him yet."

Naise heh.

And then some parent came in, complaining that the toilet wouldn't stop flushing, and that we should go take a look at it. And since it was the girls' toilet Mr Ow tried to make me go but I was like "WHAT no Mr Ow I can't fix toilets! You should go!" But he was like "Uh no I can't go in the girls' toilet I'm a GUY!" even though the parent's husband was already in there and all. So he was scheming to make Ms Tay go in and fix the toilet, which Mr Tan was nice and argued against. So they wanted to make Mr Tan go fix it, which he obviously objected to, because "Hello I'm a teacher, not a plumber! I'm already doing the dunno what thing so if I become a plumber I might as well become the technician as well and -makes some violent motion in air-"

Somehow I think functioning at night makes people hyperactive, because I was like dancing and skipping and talking to Mr Ho all at the same time about how freaked out I was during the COI, because I'd continually rebutted this parent's points and she'd been kind of glaring at me and all that. So I thought when Mr Lim asked about how the "respect" factor was she'd kill me or something. But Mr Ho was very nice about it he said I didn't do that badly hahah. And then there was the matter of transport arrangements and all. Mr Lim asked me how I was going to go home so I was like "Oh my dad's fetching me", and he asked if my dad had called and I realised I hadn't checked, and for some reason he found that very funny and kept laughing.

Mr Ow recommended me the penguin version of the analects, which I shall go read one day. When I have enough sleep and my sentences aren't long and run on like these ones.

OH Mr Lim still owes our class Philo worksheets! I was planning to do them over the weekend, but he hasn't put them in our classtray yet. So I can't do my worksheet and probably won't be able to finish it in time ): When I told him so he just smirked and told me to "go do your SS PT la!" TSK RACHELTAN this is all your fault tell him about SS PT la! Now we'll never get our worksheet.

I should really go sleep it's nearly midnight and I think I'm slightly incoherent :D

11:11 PM

Today was a Good Day! :D

But it was also a Very Long Day (I stayed until 9:45pm in school, heh) so I shall split this post up into two parts :D First the preamb; or the pre-Shrek-dialogue part!

Okay hm during lunch, Lydia came over and we started gossiping and all haha :D I love gossiping with Lydia it's so amusing, and we did a lot of Nodame imitations which freaked Denise out. I saw her visibly shiver.

Then at 2:15 we trooped over to the library very happily, and planted ourselves in the back room thing. Ms May Tan carried three tables in, stared at us, and then went out. We were contemplating moving out, and were wondering whether we were in the wrong place, because it was like 2:35 and there was still no sign of Mr Lim. So Lydia checked her email, and according to the title in the email (which WAS the entire email, actually) we were in the right place. So we refused to move and just sat there.

And then Mr Lim came, and we started on existentialism! I quite like continental philo; it reminds me a lot of Lit. And of course I have to do a lot of reading now, because Mr Lim references a lot of Lit and everyone is like "oh yes yes Kierkegaard! Lovely works! Oh yes Nietzsche! I love his writings!" and I'm like OH MY GOSH HOW DO YOU SPELL NIETZSCHE!!! D:

So obviously I'm going to have to work a lot to catch up, with Sec 3s and Sec2s, which makes me immeasurably sad. ):

Then at around 3, the library suddenly cleared because everyone got chased out for FPS. We stuck around for a little while more, until Ms Tan came in and was like "out! out!" And then she realised that her tables were gone, moved away by someone. So she turned to the three of us who were left (yeah Friday PEP is puny) and was like "Victoria! Sze Ning! Xing Le! All of you go get one table for me now!"

Being guai and all we all turned to get tables, but then this bunch of 3 little ACS boys who couldn't have been older than P4 or P5 suddenly piped up: "Ms Tan, can you let us carry the tables instead? It's not very gentlemanly to make them do it."

SO ADORABLE AHAHAHAH. But we moved the tables anyway, and Mr Lim helped us, being gentlemanly and all. HAH okay until now I still can't say "gentlemanly" without recalling the three adorable little boys and wanting to laugh so hard :D

Yeah k then we got chased out of the room, so we went out to the corridor to continue. Existentialism is kind of hard to get, what with all the anxiety vs fear and care and anguish. Studying about anxiety and not getting it made me anxious, which led to another panic attack and all.

But we finally finished at around 4pm, and I THINK I kind of got it, which was good, yay! :D But then I had nothing to do, which wasn't good D:

And then I heard some pretty bad feedback coming from the amphitheater, so I happily ran down to go help. Mr Lee and Mr Wan were setting up for tomorrow's Guides event, so I helped them. And then since it wasn't 6 yet, I decided to follow Mr Lee around for 2 hours or so. Quite fun la haha it's really cathartic to follow someone around like a quiet little puppy; not much thinking or whatever involved. Talked a bit about the placement of new screens and everything.

After that I followed him down to IT dept, where Mr Wan was playing Starcraft.

Mr Lee: "OMG IS THAT STARCRAFT?"
Mr Wan: -grin- "Yeah."
Mr Lee: "OMG IT'S STARCRAFT! IT IS! IT IS! When did you buy it?"
Mr Wan: "Yesterday. $99."
Mr Lee: "Whoo I am going over to Funan right now and buying it. Oh but then I won't have time to play it. BECAUSE I AM BUSY MARKING PAPERS."
Mr Wan: "Do you want the box? I can give it to you."
Mr Lee: "NO STOP TEMPTING ME!"
Mr Wan: -opens box to reveal a whole map, and puts it on display on the table-

And then they had some long boring discussion about graphics, during which I zoned out. Until Mr Lee squealed: "I WANT STARCRAFT! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY LIFE?"

Then he went over to talk to Mr Tan, who is actually pretty nice haha! I never really realised cos he never ever spoke to us. And as he prepared to leave, he had this rather amusing conversation with Mr Tan:

Mr Lee: "Bye Mr Tan, bye Mr Wan- what do they call you? Mr Wan is like, so weird."
Mr Tan: "They just call him Wan. Because he's like, THE WAN."
Mr Lee: "Haha the wan, the one, like Neo?" (MATRIX :D)
Mr Tan: "Eh we got a Neo also lor! -points to Mr Neo's nametag- obviously we're all set for the Matrix already :D"

Next part will be Philo dialogue, which I shall post in another post!

MR LEE HAS AN IPAD.

I stared at it for 5 minutes, and then Crystal came over, and I pointed at it and gasped and gasped and gasped. Like "OMG IPAD IPAD IPAD IPAD IPAD" and she jumped and squealed and I promptly had another hyperventilation episode.

Then Mr Lee caught us staring at it, rolled his eyes, and invited us over to play with it. Which we obviously accepted with gusto. IT IS BEYOND COOL. We left a note on his Corkulous board thing which said: Buy two iPads for your lovely CCA students named Crystal and Victoria." I hope he checks his to-do list regularly.

Mr Xu came over and snarked at the iPad, like "it's just an IPAD." Sacrilege! But when his repeated attempts to get us to stop fangirling basically fell flat, he gave up and started fangirling over it a little himself. I quote: "Where's my Angry Birds!" When he found out that Mr Lee'd deleted it, he just happily redownloaded it and I spent like a good half an hour playing Angry Birds.

--

Philo today was fun! For once I actually managed to enjoy Thursday Philo. Anyway today we were supposed to design an experiment to answer our friend's questions. Except that our friend is a feral child, but has had a couple of years education and hence can speak English like a P5-P6 kid. Why not just say a P5/P6 kid? I dunno. But I think feral children are cool.

So we had to design an experiment to show the feral kid how stuff works, without startling her. And despite being feral and all, she had quite a lot of good questions:

1. Does light travel like an arrow, or like a snake?
(I huh-ed very loudly at this one, because wtf does a snake travel like!!)

2. Do big boulders fall faster than small pebbles?

3. Seawater is made of salt and water. But what is water made of?

4. Why don't we ever run out of air?

5. Why do iron boats float?

So RachelT Hannah and I formed a group, and we had this long long argument over Q2: big boulders fall faster than small pebbles assuming real world conditions, but theoretically they shouldn't, not in a vacuum at least. But Mr Lim had told us to use household items as far as possible to prove our point, and not everyone happens to have a vacuum tube at home. So we asked Mr Lim if we were supposed to prove it the theoretical way or the actual non-theoretical way, but he just rolled his eyes.

So we moved on to Q1. But then I couldn't understand why a snake, because although light has properties of a stream of particles AND a wave, a wave looks nothing like a snake. Until Rachel pointed out that it was perhaps the wave form that he was referring to. Which made a little more sense. Then I was bound by duty to explain that this had already been resolved, because experiments using a single photon had shown that it could be in 2 places at once, as long as it is not detected; and Rachel promptly started screaming because "OH MY GOD PHOTONS KNOW WHEN THEY'RE BEING WATCHED? THEY KNOW???"

Anyway our classmates came up with a great experiment for this one:

1. Let feral child look at a candle through a really long toilet roll tube. She sees a candle!
2. Kill a python and hollow it out.
3. Let feral child look at a candle through hollow python. She sees nothing!

Mr Lim looked rather disturbed at their use of a hollowed python: "Um, the other classes suggested the same thing, but using a garden hose instead of, uh, a python. Less cruel, YOU KNOW."

We had PE in the morning. Tennis! I actually felt well enough to borrow a racket from Denise and hit a couple of balls. I can actually get about 85% of them over the net without throwing my racket over, which is a marked improvement from my badminton days. (I read my old blogposts to verify this)

And then Mr Ng let us off early to go get food, so that we wouldn't faint during the Emergency Exercise. YAY. Math was completely wasted watching Pyongyang Traffic Girls and trying to think of songs for our class to sing during Emergency Exercise. We had the one that goes "It only takes a spark, hoo hoo, to get the fire going!" and "We Didn't Start the Fire", and "Jingle Bombs" (OMG love Achmed) There were some not very sneaky people with shirts saying "MOE" walking around, and it's common knowledge that they are terrorist insurgents, part of a group called "Meanies with Osama Education". Heh.

Immediately after the bell rang at 9:50 we heard 2 loud pops, and some screaming. A not-very-subtle start to the Emergency Exercise (henceforth referred to as EE, because typing out the words is a bitch). There was quite a bit of confusion about whether that REALLY was the start, or if it was something else quite innocuous. I mean, pops/bangs are quite common when there is a freaking construction site next to your school. Denise didn't even hear it, because it sounded quite like a rifle bang, so she was all acclimatized to it already. And then Yvonne said it sounded like a table falling over, and promptly pushed a few over to demonstrate.

So we went out to check, and apparently it was the start of the EE, because all the teachers were running towards a concentrated location on the 2nd floor, midway between the kitchens/chem labs, which are The Places for fires to start, and some people were cheering and clapping for the start of the EE.

And then Mrs Hoo came on over the PA system, ignoring everything that we'd niaoed about keeping a certain distance away from the hypersensitive mic, so it sounded like "This is- click- principal-click Hoo-click-fire-click-kitchen-click-avoid D1 and D2 block!"

To their credit, it did look pretty impressive, with a whole lot of smoke billowing out and everything, probably taking the opportunity to fog the grounds at the same time, but it also prevented me from breathing properly. And since the lift was in the general direction of the kitchen, I couldn't go there and had to hobble down 4 flights of steps, which left me pretty winded as I burst into the General Office. Mr Chia saw me and was really nice and all, helping me to the foyer which was supposed to be some gathering area. And cos I couldn't really walk properly he walked really slowly with me, and I got to see some of the action.

The General Office is just below the walkway that links the chemlabs and the kitchen, and from the ground floor you get a pretty good view of what's going on. So I saw a whole lot of teachers RUNNING towards the kitchens, presumably to get casualties out of there. Sho brave worh.

Yeah then Mr Lee was in the foyer, and for a horrible moment I thought he was going to be a first-aider, because he obviously has a Lot Of Medical Experience. But people with medical experience tend to be rather unsympathetic first aiders, because cuts, bruises, and broken limbs are nothing in the face of -waves hand airily- the time I climbed a mountain with a prosthetic limb while battling third stage leukemia with liver failure and blindness.

But he wasn't a first aider, and grumbled a bit about not being one "Actually, I SHOULD be one, but -mutter mutter mutter-". And then he gave me a really strange look and asked if I was for real, or just part of the drama, and I was like "OMG WHAT I AM TOTALLY FOR REAL OKAY" and he quickly shepherded me over to the casualty assembly area, which was the Dance Studio. And then I realised I couldn't actually walk properly, so Miss Liah had to help me all the way over there D: Sorry!

It was cool walking slowly there though, because there were all these teachers rushing down the slope with actual people on stretchers and all! Mostly male teachers, because even though we don't like to admit it we are pretty heavy and so, yeah. We need big strong male teachers like laoshi (HAHA he has something against Korean boybands because he says they are "nen", obviously a contrast against guys like him who are real men and bleed not cry.) to carry stretchers for us. The make up was quite gory eww all the blood and everything; I would hate having to wash that off later if it was me. Although the casualties looked more like they were headshotted rather than caught in a fire.

Then all the teachers at the first aid base thought that I was a planted casualty, and whichever teacher happened to be escorting me at the time had to pass on the message that I was "REAL", but most of the time it didn't really work because they thought that it was just some stupid codeword to take the exercise seriously. So it was kind of tough, having to convince them all that I was really having problems breathing. At least until I collapsed on them, or they saw me actually turning pale, or they touched my hands and found that sincerity emanated through my palms. Nah kidding they were just supposedly clammy. Mrs Hoo said so, I suppose she must have touched my hands or something. Because I don't really remember much from that time except Mrs Hoo staring at me, and that her hands were really hot. I remember thinking that she must be a werewolf. I ought to stop reading so much Twilight.

So after they were suitably convinced of my not-planted-ness, they got Ms Seah to drive me to the doctor's. ._. I felt super bad la sigh. And then we got stopped at the gate, because they thought we were escaping, and we had to go through the whole round of convincing people that I was FOR REAL, REALLY! again. Bleh.

The doctor's was... odd. We registered and everything, and then just as they told me I could go in to see the doctor the previous patient suddenly doubled back and went in, and had a long heart-to-heart with the doctor ._. The other doctor finished seeing 2 patients in the time that the patient took to have a chat with the doctor. How annoying. The receptionist was complaining about that too in Cantonese/Hokkien, and me and the other 2 teachers were listening in and smirking.

Apparently I have hyperventilation issues! I get to breathe out of a bag everytime I have an attack, which is once every hour or so.

When I got back to school, I saw Mr Chia who very nicely enquired after my health, and then Li lao shi who did the same and confessed that she thought I was faking it at first. And then the two first aid teachers who looked after me when I was sick, who also professed their sympathy. I was feeling all happy and loved, until Mr Chew popped up, and was all "EH! I heard you fell sick!" and I realised that I hadn't actually seen Mr Chew at the first aid area (he was probably off carrying causalities or something) and that basically meant that news had Spread. O: I got a nice concerned sms from Mrs Lim though, which although makes me feel all fuzzy and loved also indicates that news has Spread Quite Fast, which is a little worrying considering that I hang out in the GO alot, and teachers move past there all the time. Eeps.

Mr Lim has taken to quoting Achmed, the dead terrorist.

I don't know whether it's a Friday thing, but this morning he was going around happily shrieking "SILENCE! I KEEL YOU!" and also instructing us on how to say "KEEL" correctly.

It is mildly disturbing.

Sigh die la Speech Day is in 1 month's time, and there's been no word about getting people in and I am panicking! Mr Lim says to get 4 first, but 1. 4 probably won't be enough; it never is for Speech Day, and 2. we still don't know when the rehearsals are.

I told him to stand up in the middle of his staffroom and shout for the person in charge of Speech Day to show themselves, but apparently he has the same idea as Mr Lee: stay as low profile as possible. Although that kind of didn't work for Mr Lee. So I suppose if we got Mr Lee to shout he MIGHT actually do it.

And I can foresee it being a nightmare already. Speech Day is ALWAYS a nightmare. And our teachers both won't be here D:

Although that might bring up some interesting possibilities. As Sec 4s we'll have to stand in for the teachers, which means I can totally abuse my power- I mean, guide the juniors well! Hee hee I can totally see myself running around the control room screaming: "SILENCE! I KEEL YOU!"

Perhaps out of solidarity for Mr Lee's kids, I have fallen sick too.

Though not from hand-foot-mouth; although that'd be nice because I'd actually know what I was down with.

But suddenly after AV photo taking I inexplicably stopped being able to breathe. And then I felt really faint, and that was not very nice.

So somehow I stumbled up to class, and collapsed in a chair for awhile before deciding that I would die if I went for SAP. The art room is horribly stuffy and not a place to be when you can't breathe properly.

But when I went downstairs to tell my teacher that I wouldn't make it through art, she'd thought I'd somehow managed to stress myself into a heart attack.

I had COI assessment today, and made the most disturbing discovery:

The Philo teachers actually WATCH what they record on those video cams!

Oh this is completely not related but Mr Lee and Philo dept seem to have this love-hate relationship, since Philo dept keeps stealing our cameras. They took the huge chunky ones with detachable mics, and apparently hid the mic in a flowerpot to disguise it. Which kind of explains that little potted plant I saw in the library that day. Abit fail though considering that a mic does not really look much like a leaf, or a flower.

Then we got those adorable little handycams, and now they're using those to film our COI sessions, which I suppose means we have our huge chunky ones back.

But I digress.

Anyway, today after our COI was over, Mr Lim mumbled something about forgetting what points we'd raised, but it didn't matter because he'd find out when he watched the video again.

Me: "OH WHAT you mean you actually have to watch ALL the COIs again?"
Mr Lim: "Yeah, well, the ones we're marking."
Me: "So that's like about almost everything."
Mr Lim: "Now you know how painful it is."

AND I AGREE. IT IS VERY PAINFUL TO WATCH COIs.

BECAUSE I WAS MAKING FUNNY FACES THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE OF THE READING TIME!!!!!!

I didn't really get the article, because it was sort of contradictory and not linked, so I was mentally tearing my hair out. Cue frustrated face.

Then I remembered that in Philo lessons Mr Lim sometimes scrunches his face whenever we ask him a particularly annoying question, and I figured that might actually aid in thinking. Cue scrunchy face.

And then I realised that it doesn't really help much, but it's fun.

So I continued scrunching my face a lot, while trying to think, during the rest of the think time.

AND IT WAS ALL CAUGHT ON TAPE. WHICH THEY ARE GOING TO WATCH. AND LAUGH AT. OH NOOOOO.

I love Seth Lloyd!

I have never seen anyone write so very compellingly about computing in tandem with philosophy and quantum mechanics, which I have always nursed a secret crush for. I mean, "The ambiguity of human language is not a bug. It's a feature!"

Anyway it looks like R@YDSP applications are now open to everyone else in the school, and I am secretly cheering because I AM ALREADY IN UHHUH YEAH.

I think it really rocks doing ComSecurity for WOS, cos they make you do a test to get in and then they assume that since you passed the test you must have at least some standard and hence they let you right into the programme, or something like that. So yeah I was in before applications technically started. I don't have to go for interviews, tee hee hee.

And I really am glad for that, because I already have a mentor and he's been really nice and discussing stuff with me, and they're going to buy me a Macbook Pro to PLAY WITH and write viruses for oooomg. Rich is rich I tell you.

Plus it's totally cool that we got to propose our own projects, because the ones that they have open are kind of, uh, not very interesting. And one of them requires O Level Physics, which we can basically kiss goodbye to because NONE OF US HAVE O LEVELS D:

The other comscience one looks quite interesting though; pity the number of applicants is capped at 6. That would mean like crazy competition. And I really like my project, so I'm never going to give it up, never gonna let it down, never gonna run around and hurt you (:

WOAH for the first time since practically forever, my tagboard is alive!

Well WAS alive; it died after Xinyuan's last tag.

Thanks guys I really appreciate everything you all said: reading them made me want to cry again and hug you all. I really think I'm going soft ohnoes. Next thing you know I'll be holding hands with everyone and making daisy chains and singing "Heal the World". Not that people who do that aren't noble or anything.

Well whatever now I know that whenever I need tags I can just put up an emo post. Even though the last one was technically a happy post LOL did you all like not read the ending or something! I was totally happy and skippy after writing it. And reading all the tags just made me happier and skipper.

Haha okay I've been marathoning Nodame Cantabile so I've kind of disappeared from the surface of the earth. IT IS SO SWEET OMGGGGG I can't wait for the final to come out on DVD so that I can watch it about 50 times over and over and over again!

Sigh Nodame Cantabile is soooo inspiring. Although I guess I'm probably getting all the wrong messages la haha. All it's inspired me to do so far is to practise piano like crazy, and want to grab a senior to study abroad with :D And yeah talk in a funny accent during Jap class.

Stresemann ftw :D :D :D He's like this really loveable tikopek who has an odd Japanese accent.

Awesome possum I really want to study overseas now gahhh :D :D :D

Today, I had a horrible day at school.

To top it off, I had to for SAP, which I have steadily started to detest because my teacher keeps telling me how much my work sucks.

When I got there, I found out it was going to be an assessment, which the teacher had only told us about at 1am this morning. I had none of my prep boards with me, and only some samples of what my final work would look like. Obviously I panicked.

When the teacher came around, I was almost ready to cry as I told him that I had only a little bit of my work with me. I expected him to fail me on the spot.

He told me he was perfectly fine with seeing whatever work I had.

So I showed him.

And he told me how much he loved the idea, how refreshing it was, and how it could totally work out.

I don't know what gave it away, but he then he suddenly turned to me and said that I shouldn't be insecure. That I shouldn't be comparing my work to the others'. That my work was just totally fantastic just as it is.

After SAP, I hid in an empty classroom and cried, and cried, and cried.

Dear Mr Nice Art Examiner,

I don't know how you knew that for the past 6 months, I have been feeling inferior to everyone and their beautiful, beautiful paintings.

I don't know how you knew that every week, my teacher has been telling me that my artwork sucks, and that I've been contemplating quitting art.

But thank you for saying what you did, when you did. You reminded me of why I joined Art in the first place. You made me think that perhaps I might not suck as much as I think I do.

You GMH.

Perhaps the 4 years I spent learning Philo have been thoroughly wasted on me!

Crystal and I were talking about tautologous people this morning. "Differing moral standards must exist because people have different moral standards."

Yeah Philo dialogue gems, ooh.

Anyway, I started telling Crystal about recursion, because all recursion is ultimately a form of tautology, sort of. Function calls itself, etc. Except that recusion actually stops sometime (or calls sigsiev) and is actually useful and not annoying.

But yeah. Then I remembered Zhenghao's words of wisdom regarding recursion. He once asked us what the earlier example of recursion was, and I was thinking along the lines of Fibonacci numbers. Turned out recursion existed way before almost everything else. When God says "I am what I am" in the Bible, that was recursion.

It was also rather tautologous. But instead of having a deep philosophical discussion of the likes of Plato in Euthyphro, we started saying "I am what I am what I am what I am what I am". It has a very nice triple time beat to it. "I am what I am WHAT I am WHAT I am WHAT I am".

--

But in other news, I broke down one of Xinyuan's arguments with some rather neat and tidy logic.

She claims that I am bipolar.

I concurred, with three statements.

P1: If I were bipolar, I would not see Xinyuan around.
P2. P2 is valid because of "You so busy, I so bipolar, how to meet?"
P3: I see Xinyuan around all the time.
C: I cannot be bipolar.

The "I so busy you so biopolar" thing was quoted from Mr Lee one day when Xinyuan asked to meet him, and he was in a Chirpy mood.

Whatever. I like my logic.

LOL I think if I were my Philo teacher I would kill me.

No one blogs daily anymore ):

I think my standard of blogging is dropping, because I have nothing much interesting to say and I have been quite incoherent lately.

Except this afternoon after EXCO interviews, Crystal and I were walking towards the bus stop when we saw a squirrel on the rail.

Crystal is somewhat partial to squirrels, which she immediately demonstrated by jumping up and down crazily squeaking "SQUIRREL! SQUIRREL!"

So I told her that the squirrel would run towards her if she acted more nuts. Because squirrels like nuts ha ha ha.

And then she bent over next to the squirrel and squeaked: "I'M NUTS! I'M NUTS! I'M NUTS!"

So yeah. That was the most interesting thing that happened all day.

This post is boring and dry and not very nutty or punny or whatever. Yawn.

Oh my god Nodame Cantabile!!!

Chiaki and Nodame MUST get together. They MUST, or I will throw glass bottles at the screen, and then cry buckets and buckets of tears.

And when Chiaki racks up $250++ worth of cab fare just to go tell Nodame how much he loves her (I have a sneaky feeling I blogged about this before) it is totally enough to send anyone into a fangirly coma okay.

I want a Chiaki senpai to go overseas to study with too!!!! ))))))):

Anyone? Harvard law? Stanford comscience? Beijing CHINESE PHILO >D?

Haha okay I think I really ought to decide what I want to do in uni before hunting down a Chiaki senpai :D :D :D

--

OH NOOOOO I just watched the trailers for the finale, and Nodame says to Chiaki, "Senpai, oakare desu" (I think), which means, Senpai, let's break up. NOOOO!!!!! OKARE WO SHITE WA IKEMASEN YOOOOOOOO.

But then in the other trailer, she says, "Senpai, kekkon shite kudasai!" Which is great, because I WANT THEM TO!!!!!

I just can't place the order of events, and of course I'm rooting for the breakup and then marriage, not the other way round. Hmph. This makes me utterly uncomfortable because I won't know until I watch it, bleh.

UGH SON RUI I cannot stand her!!! She nearly made Chiaki-Nodame break up in the first movie, and she's back again. BAHHH she already stole my Hanazawarui so if she breaks up Chiaki-Nodame I will throw glass bottles at her guy stealing face

I have been in the midst of my own existential crisis recently.

Apparently my CCA teacher IC, while impersonating me to write a self-nomination for CCA awards, has deleted my CCA records.

I was sitting in the control room today, minding my own business, when he suddenly looked up from playing with his iPhone and said with much glee: "Oh, look! I have no more Year 4 students in AVPA!"

He's been hinting Not Very Subtly about our stepping down soon, so at first I thought this was another Not Very Subtle hint. So I was all, "Ahem, Mr Lee, THERE ARE YEAR 4s HERE DO YOU MIND FJGKSDJFKSD"

And then he said in his classic Mr Lee tone: "I know. I thought the "delete" button was the "submit" button. I deleted all your CCA records. :)"

I now have no CCA records, apparently, considering that AV is my ONLY CCA.

And then as I was wailing about my lack of CCA records on the way back to class, we saw Mr Lim, and then I suddenly remembered that I had a more worrying thing to panic over: By virtue of not having any more CCA records, DO I STILL EXIST?

According to the school's records, I do not exist. Or at least I do not have a CCA. But since everyone in Singapore has a CCA, I do not exist.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I always thought the whole existentialist drama was a bit over the top, but now I finally comprehend the pain of other philosophers. DO I EXIST? I KNOW I EXIST, BUT DOES THE COMPUTER KNOW I EXIST?

I shall now mutter "Cogito, Ergo Sum" under my breath over and over again, and spend the whole night thinking and drinking coffee to stay awake. For if I cease thinking for even a single second I might vanish in a puff of logic.

There is this poster outside the Queens Staffroom which reads something like "XX and XX make a zombie movie". Obviously a derivative of the above, which is hilarious.

Not that I've ever watched it, but you know, the title alone...

I love the movie poster btw. There is this little subtitle at the top, which says: "A poster for everyone who finds our movie title a little hard to swallow."

And I think I've been reading too much trolling lately, because one phrase came to my mind quick as zap. In the interest of preserving the innocence of kiddies who read this I shan't say anything heh.

Sighh OS nomination is hard :/

There are times I seriously start thinking about my purpose in life.

Because honestly, I'm a teenager, and teenagers are filled with pretangst, and part of that job description includes existential crises.

And I feel like I don't have much of a purpose, really.

Until today, when I was clicking around on wiki, and landed on the page about St Bernards. This is what it said about them: "He loves to romp in the snow, and pulling a cart or carrying a backpack gives him a purpose in life."

I suddenly feel slightly better.

I don't want a huge purpose in life now. It doesn't really matter to me if I never end up doing something great, or not being recognised, or not be remembered.

All I want to do is be like the St. Bernard, and be happy carrying a backpack around. (:

8:39 PM

Today, I am missing my exams because of a stomachache gone wrong.

Instead, I get to retake them tomorrow, missing half my lessons.

The doctor suggests that the stomachache was one of those random things that happen ever so often in Bio, you know, like a mutation.

But I know better.

When you stay up late for 3 days, with a fever, doing art for submission on Saturday, you tend to fall sick easily. Especially more so if you can't go see a doctor, because all your time is taken up rushing art, for submission on Saturday.

Please note the keywords: Submission on Saturday. The "Saturday" in question refers to last Saturday, ie the 3rd. I spent Wednesday thru Friday rushing our my coursework, and the whole of Saturday morning panicking because of the jam, thinking that I wouldn't make it in time for coursework evaluation.

And then I get there, half dead and feverish, only to find out that the assessment is in fact postponed! Hooray! Instead, we'll be having 3 hours of peer review!

The best part of this is that SHE KNEW it was going to be postponed. SHE KNEW, BUT SHE DIDN'T TELL US. And some of us had actually wanted to go see a doctor.

Seriously took all my willpower not to walk out.

In all fairness, I guess peer review was okay. And if I don't think about it too hard I can see how she just wanted to help us meet the deadline. And to tell the truth, being sick is okay. I can take being sick; I've been sickly since forever.

But what I honestly cannot stand about this is that I am missing Philo Dialogue THANKS TO ART.

I mean, has it never occurred to her that other people have other commitments too? Commitments that they've agreed to since FOREVER? And really REALLY REALLY wanted to go for?

So now I have to cancel on Mr Larry at the last minute, even though given a choice I'd pick going for the Philo dialogue over doing stupid art any time. I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS SINCE FEBRUARY, I TELL YOU. I HAVE BEEN SO EXCITED ABOUT IT.

And now I can't go.

I WANT TO BE A TERMINATOR!!!

I was just watching Terminator 2 on AXN and totally remembered how much I was in love with John Connor when I was Sec 2.

But John Connor was such an annoying little brat in T2. I mean yeah awesome he can hack ATMs, but ew that disgusting accent is SO ANNOYING. Totally cannot imagine him becoming that sullen responsible teen.

Squee I love Schwarzenegger. Apart from his really really hard to spell name though.

On an unrelated sidenote, it would be totally cool to be a Terminator. They can see in the dark, because their CPU or whatever controls them AUTOMATICALLY enhances images from their image sensors or whatever. Like buhbye to glasses, man.

But Schwarzenegger's model is pretty old. T1000s are cooler! I love how they melt through jailbars and out of the floor. And they look SOOOOO smooth too!

AHHHH OMG WHAT AM I DOING I SHOULD BE REVISING CHINESE! D:

My class is damn odd during Philo!

Haha okay being enthu RachelT and I sped all the way to the library place after Math but we found NO ONE THERE~! O: And one of our small HD camcorders, which was supposed to replace the big professional cameras I guess, was on the floor. FAINTED, OR DEAD.

Yeah well RachelT and I thought that Mr Lim'd spontaneously combusted or something, so we were crapping about what stuff we were going to scavenge, when Hannah came in and said very loudly:

"Homosexual female puppies."

That, apparently, is her idea of a good conversation starter. According to her, it works with everyone, and they eventually end up striking up a good conversation with her, except me, because I just smiled and said "That's nice, dear" in a patronising tone.

She also said that someone thought that she was trying to say "Little lesbian bitches" in a more politically correct way. And then she tried a different conversation starter, which happened to be "spontaneous gender realignment".

Is it just me, or do all these conversations starters share a common theme? A thinly disguised cry for help, perhaps?

Anyway Mr Lim came back in, and made us all sit on the skunks. Rachel and I hid at the back because we wanted to get out of observing, and when she plopped down on her skunk she hit the shelves of videos, which made us all laugh like crazy. Then Mr Lim thought that someone was hiding behind the shelves, and so we spent the rest of the pre-COI lesson trying to convince him that there REALLY was someone hiding behind the shelves.

At random moments, we'd shout into the shelves: "Eh, come out la, he knows!" or "Don't hide already la not funny anymore". But I guess we were totally not convincing cos he just rolled his eyes at us.

And then Hannah tried her conversation starters on Sarah, who picked up on the gay theme too, and tried suggesting other conversation starters on that gay theme, which would have been pretty okay if Mr Lim hadn't been sitting in the corner listening with this rather disturbed look on his face.

Anyway on a side note, I like Hannah's latest one: "Something Terrorist Steaks". I think it was Roasted. But whatever.

--

Assembly today was pretty fun. I spent half the period sitting outside being sad, because the Sec 3 SS teachers colonized our room and used it to have Confidential SSPT Discussions. And then we got let back in, and I spent the rest of the block being childish with Mr Lim. It is remarkably therapeutic.

And then I went home because I was sick. This little squirrel has got the sniffles. (Y) at Doll's House, btw.

I think I totally lack that quality which Ms Picca was talking about, which allows Nora to define her individualism but prevents Hedda from doing so. So instead of fighting it and trying to manipulate people like Hedda does, I think I shall just wait to marry a rich guy and become a Bukit Timah taitai, and then do all sorts of pretty tricks, and the skylark shall sing all day long.

I can imagine the disgusted looks on half of your faces now. :)
