confessions of an (airheaded) mugger

Bet you thought this was going to be witty. But in the interest of Internet safety and all that jazz, I shall refrain from divulging highly sensitive information, including age, telephone number, and weight. I guess a name is ok though; how else will you know it's me? (But seriously, kids, don't talk to strange old men on the Internet)
I do adore owls though. But you already knew that so I guess that's ok too.

I have stories to relate today!!

Okay la not really stories, but stuff.

Math exam pissed me off; I got the method and everything but stupid careless mistakes sdjgidshfuasrnfjksc. I never used to make careless mistakes BAH.

Yeah anyway I got on the train, and mugged Bio all the way home. I feel so inadequate sigh.

And then when I got off at Sengkang, I saw Kevan hahaha! He saw me and said "hi", then rushed off as soon as he got off the train. Aww.

Then I bought lunch, got onto 159 as per normal. But we suddenly stopped around Hougang Green there, and I thought at first the driver was waiting to filter out. But then the driver just kept looking down, and we could see this in the mirror and I had a minor panic attack because I thought he'd fainted or something.

Luckily it turned out the bus just broke down. So we all got a refund on our EZlink card and a complimentary bus ticket, and we didn't even have to wait for another bus because one appeared right behind us.

So awesome la I got a free busride.

I feel a deep sense of inner peace whenever I write baozhangbaodaos.

It's really inspiring. I don't know how to describe it, but I will try.

It's sort of like, when you're given a societal problem, somehow you can always break it down into smaller factors and pin the blame on someone and something, like maybe the evil winds of the West (I love that phrase; it makes me feel very in touch with my Chinese roots by virtue of opposition)

And then you get to analyze the possible outcomes, and it is awesome fun sliding down a slippery slope. In Philo arguments I never get to let myself go because I'll get picked up for making a fallacy, but in Chinese you can really trace the path of something to as far as you want. In fact most paths end in the collapse of society, which is really awesomely fun to predict, because who doesn't like being a soothsayer?

And finally suggestions. The best part of all.

In Chinese baozhangbaodaos, anything and everything can be solved by nice and simple methods, like putting up posters, and getting the parents to yi shen zuo ze, etc, etc. And all we have to do is really remind people to Do The Right Thing, and your job is done. It always makes me feel all warm and cozy inside, like the world is really a beautiful place after all and that we can trust in people to Do The Right Thing.

-hugs self gleefully-

So come, in honour of baozhangbaodaos and how they make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, let's join hands and sing happy songs! We can make daisy chains and sway and feel the love of the world! Peace!

Oh my gosh you know I actually didn't spot the logical flaw in this at first?

Anyway, alt-text reads:

"Handy exam trick: When you know the answer but not the correct derivation, derive blindly forward from the givens and backward from the answer, and join the chains once the equations look similar. Sometimes the graders don't notice the seams."

I ALWAYS DO THAT.

And that is going to be my strategy for Wednesday, yes indeed.

Okay I saw this totally cute and awesome story in Sopratos, and I totally had to post this. It's by Rat. From Pearls before Swine.

So here goes:

Angry Bob was angry.

"I will attend the flower show at the County Fair," thought Bob. "Flowers will make me happy."

Angry Bob went to the flower show and noticed this year's theme: "All Praise be to the Fairies."

"I like fairies," Bob thought to himself. "This is a solid, well-chosen theme."

Walking the show, Bob saw fairies on the wall, fairies on the gazebos and fairies floating from the rafters. And Bob saw a large fountain in the centre of the room

Termed "The Fountain O' Hope", it was crowned by a granite fairy clothed in Cupid's garb, complete with bow and arrow.

Bob grew romantic. He stared at the red-haired woman next to him and grabbed her arm. "Here is a penny, ma'am. Although I am a stranger to you, I ask that you join me in casting a penny into the Fountain O' Hope."

Reluctantly, the woman took the penny, flicked it into the water and quickly walked away, which Bob did not see, because he had closed his eyes and knelt by the fountain.

"I wish that this beautiful woman will see fit to marry me," he whispered to himself, casting his penny into the Fountain O' Hope.

As Bob heard the penny's splash, he experienced a euphoric rush of hope. "My gosh," Bob uttered, "This penny worked. I feel it. I believe in this Fountain O' Hope! I believe in this Cupid Fairy!" And so Bob rose.

And lost his balance.

And crashed into the large fountain. And toppled the Cupid Fairy. Who fell arrow-side down atop Bob. Who drowned. In the Fountain O' Hope.

-at this point, Pig interjects: "Whoa whoa, you always say you like to end all these stories on a hopeful note, but Bob's dream didn't come true. You need to end with a dream come true."-

-Rat pauses.-

The red-haired woman returned to the Fountain and saw what had happened. "My dream came true," she muttered.

THE END.

HAHAHA POOR ANGRY BOB ): AWWW

I'M WALKING ON SUNSHINE, WOAH OH~~~

Hahaha okay it is fun freaking people out with this song line, because the person whom everyone affectionately refers to as "the Old Vic" would never ever say something like this. Because I am supposed to be mean and cynical, and also I'd get sunburnt.

Well not that I wouldn't get sunburnt now. Can you even get sunburnt on your feet? I mean, it's supposed to have thicker skin than the rest of your body and all.

HEY OKAY WAIT that was not my point. Hee hee anyway Walking On Sunshine is my new favourite song, after we played it on Band Hero yesterday (Lonely Old Men ftw!) and it got stuck in my head.

So yupp this is going to be a post about class reunion, to niao everyone who didn't go muahaha.

Okay so I went there at around 1115, and I was the only one there -_- So I practised guitar on Kester's band hero. HAHA I DIDN'T DIE, much. But that might have been because I was playing on Easy, as opposed to everyone else-- they were playing on at least medium. Whoops. But at least I didn't try Expert and die or something.

K yeah then more and more people started coming, and we played a lot more songs. Joshng woke up in time to come omg haha but he promptly fell asleep halfway through Dirty Little Secret. YMCA was fun, we were all really high and started shouting along.

Okay haha lunch was fried rice from Kester, chicken wings from Kester, Ribena from Kester, and chickennuggets/fries from Joel. I got a plate of fries, sat at the table, and Glendon reached over and started SORTING MY FRIES. I was like "WTF Glendon what the hell are you doing? Why are you arranging my fries!" After arranging them he grabbed one and ate it. I suspect Glendon has OCD.

Hmm then we played bridge in pairs. I teamed with Glendon cos we ALWAYS team (haha mahjong yay!) and Kester teamed with Jodi, Wesley with Joel, and Shaoyun and Joshuang. The first hand we got was like super awesome OMG 3 aces and dunno how many royals. And then Wesley/Joel, after bidding like 11 spades or something (???!! Dunno what it was it was just damn high) called us as partners. Which is why we lost, even with an imba hand.

And then after a short foosball break we switched over to asshole taitee, during which Glendon always ended up as queen and I always got slut. So we had to keep switching cards, and about the 5th time he snickered in my face about switching cards I said I would give him the finger soon. And then Kester came over, joined the game, and gave Glendon the finger for the hell of it. o.O

Kester is very, uh, vocal! The game never starts unless Kester swears hehe.

Yeah k then Shiyuan came at about 515 o.O And then grabbed a lot of rice, finished it, and then topped up his plate with Honey stars. As soon as he sat down everyone lunged for them and he was left with perhaps a handful. Glendon was hilarious he kept reaching back for more without actually checking to see if there was anymore, so he ended up scratching rice off the plate without realising it was rice.

Oh and he has a new disturbing sound! Glendon is allergic to seafood, and there were prawns in the fried rice. I pointed that out to him but he just picked out the prawns and ate the rest. Not really wise, considering that you can still get an allergy from that, and he did. Then halfway through the game he made this odd strangled sound which made everyone jump. Apparently it's his "throat trying to scratch itself". And then he followed that up by dragging his hand down his face, which made his classic SWPPP SWPP SWPP sound. Seriously Glendon is an exercise in onomatopoeia.

Class reunion was awesome. Love you guys (:

WTF is up with the 10pm Ch U drama?

There was this dance off between one ugly woman with weird hair, and another ugly woman who looks like a tranny, which somehow morphed into a lesbian dance.

You know, like Sec 1/2 Aesthetics lessons where girls dance with girls, except that they were staring at each other with undisguised sexual frustration in their eyes. Doesn't help that one of them looks like a tranny.

10:54 PM

NEENER NEENER GOING CLASS REUNION LATER.

But it's raining D: Oh my gosh how am I supposed to go there when it's raining! I can barely keep my balance on dry land, let alone on wet, slippery ground. This annoys me.

And today's xkcd is not out yet! D: Now I have nothing to keep up my cheery mood and I shall sink back into the depths of cynicism, angst, etc, etc.

Nah just kidding. I HAVE CLASS REUNION LATER SO I'M HYPER AND EXCITED.

Now if only people would stop asking me who's going. It's so hard to remember who's going and who's a maybe SIGH.

But yeah okay whatever I shall bring my camera there and practise taking good photos! :D Tra la la di da.

Gosh I want to troll the Chem PT forums.

I even have a whole list of questions to ask.

"What is the concentration of tap water in the lab!"

"What is the percentage purity of distilled water in the lab?"

"OMG HELP PLS I need to do mole calculations, but I cannot find a mole. Do we even have moles in Singapore? I dug like 500 tunnels everywhere already but I cannot find any moles!"

"Is potassium permaganate poisonous? I thought it was my healthy potato-pomegranate juice and drank it."

"I collected 500cm3 of H2 gas, but when I put a lighted splinter in it went 'BOOM' not 'POP'. Now half the lab is gone! What went wrong with my experiment? PLS HELP!!!!"

"How much potassium is there in a pure banana? What if I couldn't find a pure banana and instead used an AC guy?" (lol jk, no offence intended to AC guys who are very nice people and not very banana-y, I'm sure)

"When I was doing my reaction, a babby formed. Can anyone tell me the chemical reaction for this? HOW IS BABBY FORMED???"

"What are the elements in iron(II) chloride? Is there hydrogen in it?"

"When I showed my video to a group of P6 kids in exchange for sweets, they called me a paedophile and punched my stomach! Is this an appropriate response?"

"Today I turned wine into water, but when I told my kid sister I was the messiah she just laughed at me! What do I do?"

And as a follow up,
"So I was really thirsty in the lab, and I drunk the water that I magicked out of wine. But now my mouth is foaming and it's really bitter. WHAT'S HAPPENING? It's just water, right? I mean, I totally magicked it out of wine. So I won't get drunk or anything right?"

Background info for people who don't take chem: That's a common reaction: H2O2 plus KMNO4 or something, turns from dark purple to clear.

"Today I broke a testtube and dropped a piece into conc. HCl. I thought it would float up but it disappeared. So I put my hand in to look for it, and it disappeared too! Have I discovered the amazing vanishing solution?"

I mean, all these are more interesting than the lame questions everyone is asking. Heh.

Okay hahaha I hope neither of us ever become judges. It'll be like, "Defence and prosecution, you both have a good case. Please play each other in scissors paper stone. Best of three."

And we still have not decided whose school to go to D:

HAHA I hope our AV teachers do not see this. But I have faith in them that they have better things to do than to read my blog.

EXCO OUTING.

Bleh I would actually have appended many many many exclamation marks after that if I were in a considerably happier mood, but somehow I just can't really get very high right now so yeah. Exco outing.

Umm I took 156 to HC in the morning (like yeah omg Vic takes bus!) because it was at an odd timing. But I was late anyway oops. But even so everyone was lateR, and so me Belinda and Ruihao waited for everyone and got pissed.

Blah blah blah danced abit, blah blah blah.

Went to sogurt and it was closed, and we had a mini debate over whether to walk over to Island Creamery, which MIGHT be closed, or whether to head straight to Vivo. Vivo won. So we went over to Vivo, and had Ben and Jerry's, and took pictures with the cow. The Ben and Jerry's guy was a bit freaked out when we handed him 2 DSLRs. Like woah nerdcakes.

Then we went down to Candy Empire to wait for people, and then back up to Carl's Junior for lunch where we had to sit outside because they just didn't have tables for 16. I got sunburnt, because I forgot to put on sunblock, but OMG KAIHONG totally rescued me by producing a tube of sunblock out of nowhere. SPF 50+ somemore leh the only level that I can use. So I kept borrowing his sunblock, and I think I used up like half the tube :X Sorry Kaihong!

Oh yeah this was totally dumb and juvenile but after sitting in our makeshift long table (we dragged together all the outdoor tables we could find, along with all the chairs) for about 5 minutes we realised that someone ought to go buy lunch. So HC volunteered us to go first, but we didn't want to, and ended up playing scissors-paper-stone; loser to go. I lost, so we had to go first. Bleh. And then all my juniors pangsehed me in the queue to go to LJS.

We all couldn't finish our fries so we dumped them into Xinyuan's plastic bag with the intent of sneaking them into the cinema, but they became soggy and gross so we had to throw them away.

TS3 was quite funny haha. And Qiyun kept me entertained with leng xiao hua during the boring parts (ie the commercials) It was super awkward la we had to shut up very quickly during the silent parts, and then quickly talk as much as we could during the noisy parts. But that freaking baby toy gave me nightmares gosh. And I want a Totoro. :)

After that we went to the rooftop pool to play captain's ball. I have a ball phobia on land and I've discovered, even more so in water, so I just picked teams, then stood in a corner to mark the boundary: when the ball bounces off Vic's head it is considered out. Kidding. It did hit my head once I think, but it was soft and not very painful so I just continued instead of crying, which I would normally do. I sometimes would grab for the ball when it came near me but I think that's about what I did.

The guys play Captain's ball really, uh, mengly. Qiyun roared like crazy in a bid to make people drop the ball, and if he'd roared at me I would probably have dropped the ball and ran, but the guys were just like "Oh psh" and continued. And Ruihao and ZC were impossible to block.

But they were so violent that 20% of them ended up with injuries. I totally panicked because Qiyun had scraped his elbow and his knee and there was SO MUCH BLOOD, and Kai Hong had somehow managed to break a splinter in his foot D: So I had to stick three hansaplasts together to make a megahuge gauze pad for Qiyun's elbow, without letting the sticky parts touch his wound, and sort of poke another hole near the top of the splinter and dig it out bit by bit for Kaihong. Gosh I was panicking the whole time because I'd quit RCY in Sec 1 and so was absolutely unqualified, and I'd never done firstaid on anyone but myself. And it is infinitely easier to do first aid on yourself, because if anything goes wrong the damage is at least controlled. And I am not very schooled in medical matters, as Irwin can testify.

Yeah. Then we played Truth or Dare in the water, and Xinyuan wanted to climb the osteoporosis structure, but I wouldn't let her because I don't know how to deal with cracked heads.

Then we all went home. LOL.

My papa bought a new computer after I begged him for the longest time ever, and he finally did.

It has Windows 7 on it, which to its credit, is quite cool!

But I think it's also shown me that I am a definite maclitist, because when I turned it on the first time I felt this damning urge to criticise it because... it's WINDOWS, hello.

Sigh. I shall be objective though. I LIKE Win7. It is nice and very stylish, and I like how you can program the desktop to change every now and then (gah a little voice in my head just said: Mac does that too!)

One interesting thing I noted about Win7 is that there's this taskbar like thing at the top, with icons for you to launch your favourite program... hmm. Looks familiar.

Actually I think the only reason I like Win7 is because it reminds me of OS X? Hahaha. I don't really get along so well with Vista, and tend to niao it a lot, heh. I think my latest Vista niao was at Ruihao's laptop, which he sjgashfgisdftg changed from UBUNTU to Vista. I mean, like, WHYYYYY. Ubuntu is near godliness in my book.

Him: "My com nearly crashed last night!"
Me: "Oh. Why?"
Him: "I also dunno LOL."
Me: "Hmm. What were you running?"
Him: "Vista."
Me: "Aha. No wonder :D"

But okay okay I will make peace with my inner Maclitist and with my new Win7 desktop.

And hee hee, I get the old one for UBUNTU YESSSSS. Hahahaha now I have OS X, WinXP, Ubuntu, Fedora, and Win7. Am I nearer geekdom yet? :D

OMG.

I thought I was a hardened cynic.

I read xkcd comics and think they're cheerful, so that my cousin now thinks I have a malformed mind.

But I've met my match in Cyanide and Happiness. After the fifth time I saw a C&H person dying in some gross bloody way, I am absolutely frightened of C&H.

And I am ADDICTED TO IT.

On the bright side, maybe like Xinyuan thinks, I really am going soft. PEACE AND LOVE!!! :D :D :D

8:02 PM
Friday, June 18, 2010

I didn't blog about Sogurt in the previous post, because I figured it deserved a post by itself.

So after giving up halfway on my hadoop cluster, I went over to Sogurt to meet the HC people, who were already finishing off a huge tub of Sogurt and a cake. Then they were filling me in on the intricacies of life with Sogurt, which included imba skillz like knowing when to stop pulling on the thing, and what kind of toppings to choose.

That sounds pretty okay, but then it quickly evolved into that xkcd comic, where 2 geeks go shopping, and spend 4 hours working out which object is better to get for better value. You know, "I think our main problem is unclear definition of value." "THAT IS NOT YOUR ONLY PROBLEM!!!"

Not that we spent 4 hours working it out, but they were talking about stuff which just flew over my head, making a nice swooshing sound, like how when you get 5 friends, you can apply 8C2 (8 choose 2) making x+42 combinations, and then to get better value for money, which means choosing the non-water-based toppings, and instead spamming rainbow sprinkles because they have negligible weight and are actually super ex or something.

So after Ningxin came, we grabbed another huge tub and went off to fill it up, with all flavours except Green Tea (because ZC said it sucked) and Plain, because HELLO? Who eats plain?? And then we started adding toppings of our choice, which we later made the adders eat because no one else wanted them. Irwin was obsessed with honey stars.

It was okay when it was still solid, but then it started melting into a disgusting mush which tasted odd because we could taste chocolate in everything, which completely ruined everything. And there was all sorts of weird toppings inside. It really reminded me of what we used to do in primary school-- everyone dump something from your lunch inside a bowl, and then mixmixmix. Except, I said, this wasn't as bad because at least no one spit in it... and then I looked at the 5 spoons stuck inside the bowl. So yup, instead of one person spitting we had 5 people spitting. Ew. But at least I'm getting less saliva conscious now, so at least I'll be able to steal food from other people now. YAY.

Yeah then we went to do our dance, numbers greatly decimated because Ningxin ran off to find Mr Lim, and ZC had to do some project, and Irwin wanted to play Dota. So there was just me and Ruihao learning the dance, with Irwin smirking at the back. Tuh. But then ZC came, and then we tried to get him to dance too, but he protested because he said he didn't like it.

Then the conversation got slightly disturbing, because Ruihao insisted that ZC secretly loved dancing and danced in the shower all the time, and how he could totally "imagine ZC dancing in the shower." Then there was something about Gary imagining ZC in the shower, and after that I tuned them out by singing "LA LA LA" really loudly in my head because I had a feeling the conversation would get even worse.

But sigh, the dance is really hard and really fast and I don't think I'll be able to do it as well as Ruihao. He is awesome at dancing I tell you after like 30mins he had the dance completely done and was being totally stylish, while I was still like "HUH WHERE ARE WE???"

Sigh, looks like I'm going to have to spend the weekend practising.

LOL if I still can't get it by Monday, I'll just pangseh Ruihao as well and let him solo :)

6:27 PM

I spent the morning locked in the computer lab typing away on the keyboards of three computers simultaneously, trying to get hadoop to work on all of them.

It didn't exactly work properly on the first two, but I put it down to different programs working differently on different coms, and then I started on the third, did everything the same, AND THEN IT WORKED PERFECTLY. LIKE THE OUTPUT MATCHED THE EXEMPLARY OUTPUT. SO I CURSED AND CURSED AND CURSED.

Gahhh I wish I were more computer-literate.

Then because it was still quite early, I tried every conceivable thing to debug the other two, but NOOOOO NOTHING WORKED.

And then there were annoying people who popped in and out while I was listening to music to calm my nerves, who seemed to think that the IT people lived in the freaking com lab. And one who wanted to use the coms even though she didn't bother telling a teacher. I hate having people around me when I'm coding, so I told her to go ask a teacher (who were all not around.) Kinda mean, yes, but I WANT SOLITUDE.

Maybe I could get Mr Lee to get the wasps removed from the Studio, and then I could code stuff in there. We could share the studio, but not at the same time, because we both want to be left alone.

But crap, if I told him that, he would be able to reverse-niao me, because he once claimed that I was depressed therefore having relationship problems, and I niaoed him by saying that HE was the depressed one because he sits in the studio marking papers. So if I ask him to let me share the studio he'll probably assume again that I am doing so because I am depressed, because I have relationship problems, etc, etc.

Halfway through the guide, which was supposed to be idiot proof, there was a statement something along the lines of: "If you want to ssh to a remote host, all you have to do is add your authentication key to the rsa authorized_keys directory!" And I read that, and reread that, and read it a third time. Then I screamed because I totally didn't understand that, so I threw my mouse into the screen and went off.

No. I wouldn't actually destroy a computer. They are my friends. But sometimes they get me so damn frustrated. Plus working on a terminal is so different from coding in C, which is like, comfort food for computing. C actually MAKES SENSE, not like typing in stuff like -ls, dir, which make sense in their own way, but not in the way that C does.

Ahh, C. I miss thee.

Oh my gosh, I love DSO.

They have this superhuge budget for recruitment, I think! For three days our lunch was consistently a 6-course buffet, and there was so much that there were always leftovers, despite the fact that 80% of our group were guys. And guys eat crazy loads; that day when I saw Glendon at RMUN he had a heap of noodles (literally a heap!) and he said that was how much he ate when he was averagely hungry. And I once saw Kah Khang pick off a whole sprig of grapes while talking to me, and I've been quite impressed by the food capacity of guys ever since.

And yeah, today after the HCIMT senior came to give his talk about iPhone hacking, we had this instructors forum thing where we sat in a circle and listened to the instructors' life stories. After that they gave out these super thick books; one for each school, and since I was the only one from my school I got to take my book home. AWESOME I got "Hacking Exposed", which is like, THE Bible of all security books.

Anyway I'm damn excited about Research@YDSP. I seriously hope I get in. Cos there's nothing more I want to do than to spend my holidays in the intern room bashing away at computers :D :D :D

Oh yes CLASS REUNION ON THE 25TH!!!!! In case you haven't already seen the FB post, and the massconvo, and the YG message. But somehow still read my blog, or something.

Anyway, Glendon smsed me this morning: "Is it in order to skip training in order to flirt with exclassmates?" So being the responsible adult that I am, I replied: "YES OBVIOUSLY."

So while all of us might not have, uh, as questionable motives as Glendon, do come!! Because it'll be fun. And then Glendon can flirt with you. :)

I have been high the last few days with CAMPLOVE, so I decided to not be bitter and sarcastic for once, and instead tell everyone how much I love them :D

So far I have done about 15, but there is one that I am awesomely proud of. It's for everyone's favourite guy:

Victoria Yeow QIYUN~~~!!!!! I LOVE YOU BECAUSE you have ultraawesome muscles and are so so so so so x100 handsome squeeeeeee -fangirly sounds- and you are so cool that you can stop global warming, which you created as a result of your hotness!!! and have i mentioned your muscles!! and abs of steel!! ♥! -fangirly giggles- HEE HEE HEE-- JUST KIDDING :D

OMG AWESOME MUCH!!!!

Yeah anyway YDSP today was awesome fun. Except DSO has something against camera handphones, which I only realized when they confiscated my phone. And I was wondering why all the pro computer people were carrying around phones that were even less advanced than Glendon's sibeh-hitek phone.

If I want to intern at DSO I really have to build up muscles! We were going through the revolving door, and all the guys in front of me just pushed it aside and went through, and I had to throw my whole weight against it to get it to budge an inch. Damn paiseh. But I guess that's better than going through the "slope", which the instructor didn't want to bring us first because he said it wasn't "suitable for children." But he was right; we went up it on the way back and I was screaming mentally with every step I took. It was THAT STEEP.

Quite cool; it reminded me of the Dec course. We spent the whole day hacking in controlled environments, which is surprisingly fun. Even disabling a program by smashing its stack is really cathartic, even though the program is DESIGNED to be smashed. I mean seriously it does some stack smashing for you already.

OMG the HCIMT senior is coming to give a talk O:

And haha, DSO has a piano and a dartboard in its messroom. It seems like a pretty fun place to work, and the dresscode is super funny. Everyone wears jeans and a T-shirt and generally looks about 18.

LA LA LA LA LA POST CAMP HIGHHHH!!!

I realised that I've been checking FB religiously for any hint of updates about camp photos/camp outings etc etc. Apparently there are calls for a Dec camp and I am already pumped about that.

Eh I want Sogurt outing!!

Sigh haha I was looking through all the photos, and there seems to be this obsession with Ruihao on the HC side. Maybe it's because they have all the photographers, who show their allegience to him by photographing him, providing him with loads of possible profile pictures.

SO I think I want to train up all my juniors to do photo as well, so that I too can have an army of paparazzi juniors to take photos of me everywhere I go! MUAHAHAHHA!

Nah kidding.

Okay I have to go do art coursework, omgzzxs. Sigh byebye!

OHYEAH I forgot about this.

We were discussing what to do for the last part of Hoedown Throwdown.

And then Ruihao had 2 stress balls-- random sidenote: Gary kept throwing them at his stomach, which was pretty funny because the stress balls seemed to be causing him much more stress heh.

So we had an idea. When Miley Cyrus said "THROWDOWN!" we'd hurl the balls into the audience, like those punk rockers who break their guitars for the hell of it.

And then someone came up with a better and less random idea: "We throw one ball at --, and the other at --! >)" Insert names of the most obnoxious people (I quite liked one though!) and we alllllll agreed.

Too bad we forgot to bring up the stress balls.

EXCO DANCE!!!

Man no matter how many times I watch this video I can't ever get enough of it.

OMG YES RG-HC CAMP!!!!

Yeah okay today was like super fun. Went to HC early, like about 715 and went to Ruihao's classroom to practice combined EXCO dance. (Sidenote: HCI classrooms have pretty windows, and when you look out of the pretty windows you can see pretty clouds.)

Then after that we had station games, and I planted myself at ZC's station and had fun with the members who came to our station. We were totally nice station ICs can! We got bored sitting there by ourselves so we decided to keep the members who came for a much longer time. And then we, uh, made them amuse us. Heh. For extra bonus points okay, and like ZC said, "everyone wants bonus points!"

Super awesome one group did the chicken dance, two groups told us sick jokes (TIE BANG MO CHENG ZHEN AHAHAHAHAHA) and three groups showed us their performance item. Haha we were both very amused by the postmodernist one; abstract ideas like breaking out of society's conventions hahahaha.

It is so fun abusing your power. DANCE FOR BONUS POINTS! DANCE! DANCE!

Oh yeah haha then there was this hugfest between Gary and ZC because ZC drew a walrus and told Gary that it was him, and Gary was really happy because he thought ZC thought he was cute. Cue hugfest.

Lunch was fun also; we bitched alot and reenacted the postmodernist piece about the door.

Then after that, we sent people off to do their photomarathon thing and Cheryl came back! And then she complained about not seeing Mr Lee, who had just complained the day before that "Cheryl NEVER comes back!" (She does; but Mr Lee is always conveniently absent when she does) And then she punched my stomach for no good reason again LOL "Oh I just felt like doing that!" I kind of miss being punched by her even ahaha.

The photomarathon themes were quite interesting. We picked them randomly out of a dictionary. I think they were Salacious (LOL), Ornamental, Pieces, Conspiracy, Metropolitan. Melissa had this idea for combining salacious with ornamental; get Qiyun to kiss the TKK statue.

Went to Audi, rehearsed our item a few times. We were having trouble with the Miley Cyrus item, and Ruihao was teaching us by saying the lines very slowly for us all to follow. In the end he was the only one who could do it properly I think! Totally got owned by him in the chairs solo :X

After what seemed like many many rehearsals we were finally getting a bit more organized. We were all celebrating when this voice boomed out from the control room: "Joel, are the amps connected in parallel?" Totally random but somehow very funny. Their senior is very nice and amusing :D

Members kept coming in for aircon, and during those times we refused to rehearse lest we ruin the surprise. So we sat down on the floor and meditated, while Gary (who is, like, this super awesome dancer!) went to chase them out/kick their ass. There was a, um, rather irritating junior who refused to budge from the control room, so we were all shouting at the senior to "pop it, lock it!" (pop the irritating junior out of the room, and then lock it :D) He did it, but grumbled about all of us dying in the event of a fire, since only one person had the key, and if he died and the keys "died with him" (heh) we would all be doomed.

Group performances were awesome! Most were skits; with the postmodernist door one, and one MRT-good-citizen one, and a funny baby mop one (baby not included) and one about climbing Mount Godzilla, which deserves a special paragraph on its own:

Narrator: "And so, after much turmoil, the climber finally reached the top of Mount Godzilla and SAW THE LIGHT!!"
Climber: -looks up dramatically at stage lights-
Ruihao: "EH CUT THE LIGHTS! :D"
Narrator: "But then, he turned around, and SAW QIYUN!"
Climber: -falls down dead-
THE END.

Oh hmm I snuck out during group prep time to go visit HC's art block. It's pretty cool they actually have specialized rooms for media art.

Okay then Qiyun's group did a dance item, which was hilarious because he kept flexing his muscles and being generally ego and stuff. And then they had this girl who I think they were all supposed to woo, but she had this awesome slightly disgusted and dao look, which I think might not totally have been acting.

OMG EXCO DANCE ITEM!!!!! It was highly awesome and I nearly felt like crying when we finished it because WE PRACTISED SO MUCH I DIDN'T WANT IT TO BE OVER JUST LIKE THAT. But it was okay and I got rid of all my angst because they kept calling for encores and solos. So Joel soloed, and we all danced below him, and then Ruihao and I soloed, and I totally got owned by him, and then Qiyun went up to dance with Gary who is OMG SUPER PRO. Photos on fb. And then we had a finale with this guy who had to do a forfeit. So yeah. It was cool.

HEY COMBINED EXCO let's perform again during next year's camp :D We can do opening and finale omg isn't that exciting!

And then after that we went to J8 for dinner and movie ): Which is a ): because I couldn't go for the movie. So to make up for that I am currently uploading all 100+ photos on FB. I am super excited to see all the camp photos, because everyone was toting pro DSLRs around (I have never seen so many DSLRs in one place!) and I bet all the photos will be damn pretty.

Oh, and the three words!

I LOVE YOUguysyouaretotallyawesomeIcan'twaitfornextyear!

I was feeling itchy-fingered in the CLC today, while everyone else was playing Murderer (RGHC camp ftw!) and so I opened a cabinet next to me.

And this stared out at me.

It looked at me. I looked at it.

Then I screamed like crazy, shut the door, and ran the hell out of the vicinity.

All the HC guys who were sitting around refused to believe that there was a rat inside, and asked me if I was seeing things, but I swear I knew what I saw! And then they thought it was probably already dead, but I said NO WAY; it had looked at me.

Then suddenly everyone was crowding around, trying to open it to catch a glimpse of the rat, but I refused to let them do it because there was no way I was going to let within, uh, ratshot of me.

I think I must have totally panicked because Gary kept asking me if I was alright, which was nice of him. Even though I was absolutely not alright. Seeing a rat in the freaking CYBER LEARNING CENTRE (caps because... well, does it sound like the kind of place to have rats?) just shakes one up quite badly.

So Mr Lee called the Estate guy, who came up with a box and a magazine and gamely opened the cupboard. I was staying far far away from the rat cupboard, but all the guys were very enthu about seeing the mouse (especially Joel, who was taking pictures) and so all crowded around it happily.

After a bit of poking around in the cupboard with the magazine, he found the rat and it was probably not pleased by the invasion of its cupboard. So it let out two rather annoyed squeaks, which made me squeak because I was frightened by it. Apparently when I squeak I sound like a rat. And when rats squeak, they apparently sound like babies, as Mr Lim pointed out as he ran over to look too ("OMG! Sounds just like my baby!")

It was quite a small rat, and then I felt kind of bad for it. I wanted to keep it.

Mr Lee was trying to make me feel better by telling us all about how he ran over a rat which ran across the road, and felt it go bump under the wheels (D:) and even Crystal was talking about the time she killed a baby lizard, but then Mr Lim had to go and negate it all by making squeaky sounds and insisting that the mummy rat was coming for me, for ratting out that baby rat.

Tsk I bet that was revenge for my accidentally hacking into his account in the morning. But in my defense, he totally ought to make his account more secure lor please. I was just trying random passwords, trying to lock him out.

Oh final meeting today!

I can't believe our camp is TOMORROW.

We walked over to Coro after the meeting with the guys to go "shopping", I quote, after they finished their meeting. In the meantime we played Truth or Dare/Shoot Shag Marry/Shoot Eat Dinner With Marry, the last because we didn't want to explain "shag" to Karmun or Melissa. Quite funny, especially Ningxin's, which I personally thought would have sucked to have gotten.

HC's LT4 (?) is scary! It leaks; and when I was sitting there listening patiently there was this sudden dripping sound and water on my head which scared me half to death seriously.

Yeah oh shopping at Coro was quite cool, because the guys kept suggesting stupid gag prizes for the non-top-two teams, like this huge can of Enfagrow, or a huge tub of bleach. Ningxin suggested pads.

And then we went to Island Creamery for ice cream (they have really cool flavours) and Benjamin cheered when Joel suddenly disappeared, but softened and gave him directions (just cross the road, until you see this Ronald McDonald with a pool of water in his crotch)

You know your CCA teachers really care about your sanity when you worry to them about getting food, one of them having so many allergies that it is simply un-listable, they respond:

"Oh, yeah it's okay. The teachers will go for high tea."

DSFASKFHJKFGKSA CRYSTAL scrap the chicken egg and veg, give him seafood surprise or something!

Sigh, high tea! D:<

Sometimes when I think about how unaccomplished I am in comparison to others, it really gets pretty depressing.

I was really bored and ended up blogstalking the Nice Director, and my gosh, his blog is Really Intelligent. I was reading the posts he made when he was Sec 4, and I was completely amazed at the sheer extent of his knowledge and stuff.

And then I started thinking about MY blogposts, which are hardly witty or clever or funny or anything. In fact the last time I said anything remotely intelligent was when I talked about reading Phaedo, and then immediately negated any value that might have by being a bimbo about getting stuff.

I bet smart people like the Nice Director don't get a kick out of getting stuff anymore, because it comes so naturally to them. And I bet he doesn't have immature contests with his teachers, trying to see who can take more pictures of the other party without getting caught.

That got me wondering about whether I had ever been intellectual, or whether it had been sheer ego whenever I prided myself on being so, or at least more so than my testicle-obsessed cousin. In order to verify that, I read through most of my blogposts, and I am sad to conclude that nope, never have any of my blogposts hinted at intellectual or intelligent behaviour.

So yeah. Major inferiority complex right now.

Shit I have been reduced to speaking in fragments. If I typed the above sentence in MS Word I'd get a nice green squiggle under it. I swear my brain has been atrophying over the holidays-- possibly as a result of more spare time to read chick lit.

But then again, as my earlier experiment proved, I have never exactly been very intellectual, so it is possible that my brain hasn't atrophied at all; merely remained the same as it always was. And the only reason I've only noticed this now is in the presence of the Nice Director's extreme intelligence. Bleh.

Oh well. I hear the opening strains of the silkworm ad on TV. I think it is perfectly adorable (again, signs of a distinctly unintellectual mind) so I shall go watch it. Toodles.

can i moderate your caucus?
Thursday, June 03, 2010

Joke notes in RMUN were funny, although knowing that half of them were actually faked by Denise and Kinnari lessened the humour a little.

But still, there were disturbing sexual innuendoes in quite alot of notes, like one everyone found quite odd but couldn't place why: "Can I moderate your caucus?" I mean, if you say it out, it sounds quite sick, but we all couldn't see why despite saying it over and over and over again.

Can I moderate your caucus?

And then of course there were some more outright ones, like, "OMG you're so sexy. Let's go to the toilet for some... debt-relief ^^"

One of the press directors was SUPER NICE. Bosnia drew a tic tac toe grid and sent it over to us, expecting it to be confiscated, but the guy who delivered it just rolled his eyes and handed it to us, and wrote in the margins: "I'll let y'all play..." We were so amazed that we just stared and stared at it, and so he offered us a pen, because he thought we didn't have one. And then he waited for us to make our move, and then delivered it himself, making sure it didn't get confiscated.

SO NICE SQUEE.

Haha yay best article. Although I doubt if anyone really read it. And I really liked our combined editorial on China's lies more, but yeah whatever.
