I have set myself a new resolution!
I will read all the Socratic dialogues by Plato by the end of this year.
They are so awesomely fun to read! I liked Phaedo, and although I thought that his theory was quite stupid at first (I mean, when that Philosophy of food guy talked about it in class, it sounded quite dumb and random-- hello, powerpuff girls in stars??) but after Mr Ow explained it and I went to read the dialogue I KIND OF GOT IT.
Yeahmanzszxs that was so awesome. Nothing beats the high of getting stuff.

Sports Fest was fun!
Except that it was really hot, and I forgot to put on sunblock, so I got sunburnt quite bad. And I went on the grass because the photofinish camera was on a grassy patch, so my allergies are acting up. See the sacrifices I make for my work! ;(
Yeah k so after camping outside Queens for awhile, Mr Lim and Belinda came and we all went to Toa Payoh together. On the bus there were a whole lot of Sec 1s who looked sad and lost, so he herded them all off like he herded Belinda and I.
Then we went to Popeye's, and after that we walked over to the stadium and Mr Lim did a rain dance for us. It worked, but only after the whole thing was over and we were all horribly sunburnt.
Okay I shall pick quotes, because sports fest was really long and I'm lazy to blog it all out.
I saw lulaoshi with Mr Tan, and I asked what house they were in. And they said they were in Tarbet. So I made a "tuh" sound, because that is JUST what you do when confronted with people from another house. And then lulaoshi pointed at my blue shirt, said "TUH" louder, and then made a thumbs down sign and walked away laughing.
Haha Mr Tan and I were having an immature contest. Like I videoed him, then he hefted out his pro camera and then took a photo of me. Then I took a photo of him, and this continued for about forever, until he suddenly hefted out this huge zoom lens, attached it to the front of his camera, and then compared the size of his lens to my lens with his fingers, before tutting condescendingly.
Oh then Mr Lim (EY) showed up in a highlighter-coloured shirt. I suppose he's from Waddle but didn't have any normal coloured shirts. I pointed him out to Belinda, and she immediately had to shield her eyes from the glow. After standing opposite him for half of Sports Fest I think my eyes just died. Which led to the following:
Emcees: "It's a nice, bright day today!" Someone: "No, it's just Mr Lim's shirt."
Me: "We need to aircondition this place. It's too hot." Mr Lim (SZ): "Yeah and where are you going to plug it in?" Me: "Oh I know! We can use solar power. Or the glare off Mr Lim's shirt."
And Mr Lim (SZ) being the genius that he was came in formal wear for Sports Fest. So he couldn't run for the Teachers' race, even though Belinda and I and Mr Desouza and Mrs Anis all tried to wheedle him into doing it.
Mr Lim: "Wait I run too fast then my pants split then how?"
After that he started doing this stupid accent, and when Ms Sally Wong asked if I was the official photographer he replied something like "No she's just freelance." I thought he was still doing the stupid accent, so I was like "EH WHAT I paid for my own lunch just now!" Then Ms Wong facepalmed my head bleh.
Oh the teachers doing AV lost the music for Buckle's cheerleading! Completely not our fault hor we were not involved in AV for Sports Fest. Instead we just stood there and smirked at their misery.
Me: "HI Mr Azahar are you a finish line judge?" Mr Azahar: "Oh. No la. I just come here to kaypoh only."
Oh and Mr Lim (SZ) stole water for us! Yay! :D
And of course the best of all. There was a long queue of people waiting to tap their EZ link cards, and Mr Lim (SZ) wanted to go in fast, so he went up to the tappy people and went: Mr Lim: "Hello. I am an AV teacher." Girls: "Um, hello." Mr Lim: "These are my girls. We want to go in quickly so we can set up and do important things, so can you let them cut in? :D" Girls: "Oh! Okay yeah." -taps our cards-
YEAHHH MR LIM IS AWESOME.
Oh and then, Me: "What does it mean when they hold up that lollipop thing like that? I know red is stop, green is go, but what about holding it in the middle?" Mr Lim: "I dunno." Me: "But since it's so thin, the people at the other end won't be able to see it right!" Mr Lim: "Huh? If like that then he'll look like he's holding nothing. Like what 'HI I'M AIRING MY ARMPIT' issit?"

I was learning great truths of the universe from Mr Lim during Morning Assembly today. Picture a young, innocent little girl, with a look of eagerness to learn on her face, not unlike those you see in corporate videos. Then picture Mr Lim, with a self-satisfied smile on his face, which comes from educating young minds and knowing that he is shaping their future. So I asked him what I considered to be The Question. "Mr Lim, why do male teachers insist on wearing long sleeved shirts even though it is like, 38*C outside, and then insist on expending energy on rolling up their sleeves, all the while sweating like crazy?" Because honestly, I have thought about it for three days, and three nights, and although I understood Objectivism after that amount of time, I still cannot comprehend why male teachers love to subject themselves to such torture (and then escaping to the staffroom or General office halfway through morning assembly to escape the heat) And then Mr Lim told me. "Because they are more convenient," he explained. "If it gets hot, you can roll up the sleeves, like so." And then he promptly demonstrated by rolling up his sleeves. "And then if it gets cold, you can roll them down again, like this." And he demonstrated it by rolling down his sleeves. And I was enlightened. But then, I suddenly thought of an objection. "But it's so damn hot nowadays! Since when is it cold? Why don't you just wear short sleeved shirts?" He just gave me a disgusted look and said: "In the staffroom it's cold la!" So I proposed a solution. "Wear a jacket lor!" Mr Lim smiled with supreme wisdom, and then patted his stomach and said: "No need. Got an insulating layer of fats." TEACHERS SAY THE WEIRDEST THINGS EVER. But on that note, I still don't get why male teachers wear long-sleeved shirts. It just doesn't look like it's worth the trouble. They start the day off all covered up and toasty warm, and then by the end of the day, their sleeves are rolled up (effectively converting it into a short-sleeved shirt) and their buttons are all opened. Like normally people leave the topmost collar button open? Well they all do that, and leave the first button open, which is kind of awkward because I don't want to look there D:

In the morning, I was complaining to Mr Lim that I couldn't get to Toa Payoh Stadium because I didn't know where it was, and he was trying to give me directions-- a very admirable but fruitless action because I am hopeless with directions. After maybe about 5 minutes of gesticulating and drawing maps in the air, he sighed, gave up, and said: "Okay, Vic, you go to the station uncle at Toa Payoh MRT, and do this-- "-wheedly tone- Uncle, I'm lost! ): I need to go to Toa Payoh stadium, but -sniff- I don't know how to go there, and I'm very, very, very scared of getting lost ): -snifffffff-" YES. MR LIM TAUGHT ME HOW TO 撒娇. And what was more disturbing was that he was actually GOOD at it. The more I find out about my teacher ICs, the more disturbed I feel about them. Like, of all the teachers in the school, we just happened to get the one who 撒娇s the most. And who also happens to be male. On a sidenote, inet announcements are really amusing. Even if you ignore all the Math GA "Press Releases" (Oh, they must be so disappointed when they find that the paparazzi isn't snapping photos of them wildly everytime they walk out of Queens) there is my favourite announcement, which starts: "Dear Year four, it is time to do pretty again." I think it really sounds cute! Like the top of those pretty notebooks which have sentences that don't really make sense? "It is time to do pretty again. Eat happy cake together!"

HA HA HA I'm super happy my Philo argument map is READABLE. Well it is quite tiny, but if I can read it, I shall hastily assume that EVERYONE can read it. (And besides, if the teachers can't, they can print it out from the soft copy, as Mr Ow has already assured me.) So yay, now Mr Lim can't accuse me of making him go blind! ^^ Oh, crap, now to do Biblio.

BTW blog readers, could you guys please show some sign of life??
It is mildly freaky when I tell someone something that I've already blogged about, because I think that they haven't seen my blog, and they go "Wait, stop, I know. You blogged about it."
So guys, if you show me that you've read it (by fun methods like tagging) I won't tell you in real life again, because that would be repetitive, boring, unfun, and a waste of breath. Help me make our lives a better place for all.

Ahahaha I have two books on philo in Chinese!
I got them from the library, and they look really hard and scary, but I shall be determined and read them anyway!
The library near my house has woefully few philo books-- in fact, they have so few that they lump it all under "001- Unexplained Phenomena", together with FENGSHUI (hahaha Rachel Tan!) But whatever, I can't afford to go to Kino and blow $700 on books just for the sake of it.
My grandma has been in my house. I can see all the signs. There is a new and unopened tube of blister cream on the table (I whined to her about my blisters that day) and there is bird's nest in the kitchen. I shall have to tell her that my blister has healed and is well (even though it is not; it hasn't scabbed over yet and I am quite worried) because otherwise, the next time she comes she'll bring over an entire first aid kit, and if I am unlucky, a doctor.
The last time I had ulcers, she brought over a whole bottle of Manuka honey and spoons to stir the honey into water with, as though we didn't have spoons at home. Apparently, they are not the right kind of spoons, although I really wonder how many kinds of spoons there are.
Spoons is such a cute word. SPOONS SPOONS SPOONS.

I was doing my Philo FA, and also at the same time researching on objectivism. Which I believe in, as opposed to DCT or Functionalism/Cultural Relativism because it was the first ever theory I learned, and I have this sort of odd affection for it. That, and of course because it makes sense. And according to Wiki, objectivism was first proposed by Ayn Rand! I didn't know that. I am going to dig up all the books on objectivism that I can find, so that I can learn more about it, and at the same time, turn myself into one of those Ayn Rand spouting adults that Sandra Leong so detests in her article. I have declared myself partially sapiosexual! I mean, just look at the definition from UrbanDictionary:
One who finds intelligence the most sexually attractive feature. "I want an incisive, inquisitive, insightful, irreverent mind. I want someone for whom philosophical discussion is foreplay. I want someone who sometimes makes me go ouch due to their wit and evil sense of humor. I want someone that I can reach out and touch randomly. I want someone I can cuddle with.
I decided all that means that I am sapiosexual."
Okay maybe not sexually attractive, but attractive nonetheless. Seriously, Plato is cool :D

Open House was cool!
I went there early to go visit Mr Lim (SZ) at the amphi. He looked sad because there was no one talking to him, and there was nothing AV-related going on. So I went to irritate him for awhile. And then I saw Ms Siow, and I went to get my Physics worksheets. They were setting up the Physics booth, and some genius turned on a speaker which was maybe 2cm away from a mic. Obviously a very annoying loud squealy sound known to the enlightened as "feedback" started up, and they couldn't figure out why. So to be nice, I decided to suggest to Ms Siow that they move the mic a little further away, while Mr Lim sat there smirking at the plight of the teachers. She just mumbled something like "Oh well, there are 2 Physics teachers there; I'm sure they'll figure it out." I don't think so, because when I was walking back I still heard that annoying sound.
Then there was Philo booth, which was pretty stoney for the first bit so Rachel and I listened to Mr Ow explain to us Plato's Theory of Forms (which was basically what the guy was talking about, except that he dumbed it down a whole lot) And he got somewhat indignant on our behalf because he said that the guy was dumbing it down too much for us, which was a little amusing to watch.
And the best thing about Philo booth was that there was this huuuuuge bowl of chocolates, which we were supposed to give to the P6s as prizes for playing the fallacy game, but we just ended up eating ourselves (shh) or giving to others, like Ms Picca (who played the fallacy game, and obviously got everything right) and Shaowei, who also got everything right, and then had a hard time choosing between Boost, Time Out, and Mars. So she whined to Mr Lim (EY), who gave in and let her take all three.
Hmm then Mrs Tan came over, and I decided to be silly and ask her if she would like to know more about our Philo programme, as though she was a parent. AND THEN SHE PLAYED ALONG OMG. It was super funny gosh she was like "But if I send my daughter to RGS, and you teach her Philosophy and how to think and question, what if she comes home and questions me ALL THE TIME?!?!?" And no one was helping me; they all left me to suffer under the questioning of Mrs Tan (who was obviously benefitted from the questioning aspect of our Philo programme) as they SMIRKED EVILLY. But I made up some crappy answer and she seemed to accept it. Then she finally stumped me with whether there was going to be some course to help parents understand Philo, and I didn't know so I had to appeal to Mr Lim with terrified eyes and he answered for me. Tsk I bet she knew all that already, because she walked away laughing to herself.
And then Mr Larry asked us to play with the Rationale software on the laptops (tchuh, not Macs) and act as though it was really fun. So Rachel did an argument map on "Mars Bars are disgusting", which she soon changed to "Mars Bars are NOT disgusting" because she forgot that the red box was "opposes" and the green one was "supports". HAHAHA FAIL. Mine was on "We should learn Philo in Chinese!" and Lidan added to it with an opposing point-- that we should learn Philo in German, which I then rebutted. The teachers came over to read what they thought were our intelligent discourses and then walked away with this mildly amused look on their faces.
Then Rachel and I whined to Ms Ong about wanting to come back to relief teach, and how it would be hard to find vacancies because most of Philo dept was male and so doesn't get pregnant (only Mr Lim (SZ) does, because of his sympathy pregnancies ahahaha so funny) and we were trying to get Ms Ong to go to Greece for a vacation and pull someone with her. Haha I want to go to Greece for a holiday, and I shall stand in the middle of the School of Athens and point my finger towards the sky in a singularly Platoish fashion. What fun!

HAHA I AM SO HAPPY TODAY WAS FUN!
We had 2 lessons-- Lit and Math, and as per her custom Ms Kum let us off early, so happily I bounced to the Hall (yeah, well, out of the lift into the hall) and found I was the only one there apart from the teachers. So I helped Mr Lim and Mr Lim (CP and EY respectively. THERE ARE TOO MANY MR LIMS IN THE SCHOOL) set up the RS boards, and to my great displeasure I found that most of the display boards were taller than I were.
Yeah then I just sat around, attached velcro to the Philo posters, stuck them up, and then peeled the backing off the Velcro. I figure I am pretty gifted at tearing the backing off. I was faster than all the teachers. Think I could get famous from that?
Anyway then Mr Lim came with a Chinese handout, which he gave to Rachel, who immediately rushed over and shared it with me. It was all about philo in Chinese, which was like awesomezxszxs because there were words like "审议小组" (which BTW is COI) and uh other cheem words like "思忖". It wasn't as bad as Xinyuan said; I only couldn't read two words.
So then Rachel and I, having finished Philo booth set up, went over to bug Mr Lim to teach us Chinese. And then he smirked at our fail Chinese. We asked him how to read the "忖" in "思忖", and he told us it was "zhuo". But hahahaha thank goodness for my Chinese zidian I soon showed him that he was wrong. But he just rolled his eyes at me and smirked.
Rachel asked him what "思忖" meant, and he replied: "Thinking."
And then Rachel stood there very quietly for 5 minutes while he continued putting up his posters, and then poked me and whispered: "Is he done thinking yet? What does 思忖 mean?"
(Btw if you don't get the joke, it's because "思忖" MEANS thinking.)
Yeah but anyway I was very happy because I learnt two new phrases, and I told Rachel and Xinyuan that, and then while bouncing off towards the control room I told them about how my Chinese had obviously improved leaps and bounds and now I can go speak Chinese like a native and get full marks for Chinese zuowens YAY! Mr Lim overheard and I caught him smirking at me again. TSK DON'T BELIEVE I CAN DO IT RIGHT.
Then I went to find Mr Lee and Mr Lim (SZ), who was balancing precariously on the swinging doors of the gallery at the KS Chee. I tsked at him again, and Mr Lee was being mean and condescending and telling him that the doors wouldn't take his weight. But apparently Mr Lim is this huge daredevil; before I came he was apparently catwalking on the ledge. Seriously our teachers are all so odd haha.
Over to Chinese, where I told laoshi happily about learning 2 new words, and how I would surely score like full marks for Chinese, and showed him the Philo handout. He looked at it, smirked, and said Chinese dept probably translated it ): And then we had Chinese, during which we mainly just chatted with him haha.
After that the three of us (Xinyuan Rachel me) crashed Mr Lim's class. We weren't sure whether we could go in at first, because there was this group of Sec 2s hovering around the door, and Mr Lim (EY) was so obsessed with his Mac that he didn't even notice us. So being leaders and pioneers and whatever, we knocked and asked if we could come in. Without looking up he just nodded and said "mmm." So Rachel asked if she could crash too, and he nodded and went "mmm", again, without looking up. And then Xinyuan asked too, and he did the same thing again.
So the above obviously proves something about Mac users. They are so awesome that they have developed psychic abilities that allow them to answer questions without looking up from their Macs. YES. :D
Then I asked Mr Lim if he wrote the handout, and he started his nodding and "mmm" thing again, but then he suddenly saw it, asked how I had it, and then took it back ): But he gave us handouts on continental philo, while the Sec 2s got JTB. HAAHAHAHHAHAHA we wished them all a very happy interesting time.
And then we wheedled with Mr Lim to let us stay on for the rest of his lessons, because he was planning to kick us out. So it went something like this:
Us: Mr Lim! Let us come next month too leh! Mr Lim: No! Go to your own classes! Me: But I can't go for my day! Mr Lim: Orh too bad who ask you sign up for that day? Me: I didn't! Rachel: Anyway Mr Lim don't you feel happy? So many people want to come for your class! Mr Lim: No! Us: But we all love your lessons so much! etc, etc
After a little bit of sa jiao-ing and whining, he agreed to let us crash for the rest of the year WHEEE. And he gave a teaser: That we MIGHT be doing Chinese philo- and then he got cut off, because we all started cheering. And then he decided he had to be wetblanketish and toned us down by saying: "BUT maybe not this year! Maybe next year, or the year after, or something!" to which we cheered even louder and started yelling "YAY CRASH PEP AS SENIORS!!!" at each other.
And then I asked Mr Lim if we could do Chinese Philo IN CHINESE, because there is nothing more awesome than Philo in Chinese, and he just rolled his eyes and sighed very hard. Then Ms Ong came in, with some guest teacher who told us about, um, the philosophy of food, and Mrs Tan, who came in to observe.
I heard him snark to Ms Ong: "I showed them the Chinese handout, and now they want to do EVERYTHING in Chinese." Ms Ong smirked at us. But realllllllly doing everything in Chinese is awesome! I suppose he was really high, because all throughout the guest speaker's speech, whenever someone said something amusing, there was this pretty loud "HNK" (uh, or a smirky sound) from where he was sitting. Rachel says he was just flattered though.

Tomorrow will be a Good Day~! But today wasn't quite so. After Math NRPS Rachel and I rushed down to the library, and had a mini panic attack all the way in because we thought Mr Lim had gotten pissed at us and left (the room was empty) Until we walked in, pushed aside the black curtain, and saw Mr Lim sitting there. Rachel heaved a huge sigh of relief, but I didn't, because the argument map being projected on the screen looked very familiar. "You're trying to make me go blind right!" Apparently Mr Lim had been projecting my Philo FA just so he could read the boxes. ._. It was supposedly THAT bad. Mr Lim, if you see this, I'm sorry! ): I will try to make my Philo AA less, uh, eye-painful.

FML.
I was panicking in class this morning because I couldn't find my Philo FA, and I think I'm going to fail because it was complete crap. Probably like 2 or something. Yeah anyway so I called Mr Lim to enquire about my Philo FA.
Me: Hello is Mr Lim there? Grouchy voice: Which one? Me: Oh. The philo one. Mr Lim: Yeah? Me: Oh. This is Victoria. Um I know you gave back the Philo FAs today, but I didn't get mine... Mr Lim: YEAH OBVIOUSLY. I can't read it! Me: -blink- Mr Lim: It's tiny! I tried to print it but the resolution still sucks! Me: Oh. Yeah I know. It ended up like 18 pages. Mr Lim: Precisely! I've been trying to print it for the past 2 days. Me: How about you just read the soft copy? Mr Lim: -snotty maclitist voice- I can't. I use a Mac.
AAAAAAAAAAH I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST GOT MACLITISTED BY MR LIM! AND I'M A MAC USER!
So after the conversation ended, I put down the phone, stood outside the staffroom for awhile, and then threw a small tantrum at the injustice of it all D:
And then here's FML 2.
I was in the control room, and Mr Lee niaoed the RALA team during debates, but since I was more concerned with the placement of Lydia's mic (which idiot put it that close to her mouth. Fess up now. Or I will hunt you down and you will die a painful, painful death. We nearly had a heart attack in the control room) I just gave him that fish-eyed look which I seem to be giving a lot of people nowadays.
Then he got all concerned and caring and fatherly and said in this damn serious tone: "Vic, are you depressed? You seem very melancholy nowadays."
I spluttered for awhile because HELLO IF THERE'S A DEPRESSED ONE IT'S HIM AFHDGSKJDFYISRU and he seemed to take this as confirmation and said again in this very concerned tone: "Are you having... you know, relationship problems?"
SFGJDFIGJISDIIGJDSIFHISDGJH
I nearly threw another tantrum. To have relationship problems you need to have a relationship first, (obviously) which I AM KIND OF LACKING. So I told him that and he just smirked evilly.
So to distract him I asked him about his iPhone. And I got a really really really long introduction to it, which was quite cool and less embarrassing than talking about my supposed depression. He has loads of apps, many of which are games.
I asked with a huge -heh- grin: Do you happen to have Tap Tap? :D Mr Lee: Oh. Yeah, I did, but I deleted it long ago because I got bored with it.
Niao la. Diploma piano fingers la. Get 100% on Extreme for every song la. TSKKK. When I get an iPhone I will spam Tap Tap until I get bored with it too.
Instead he showed me some virtual golf game, and Sim City (I noticed that his city is unusually well built-- someone has obviously spent a lot of time on that game) and he said that his iPhone was crammed with as much music as he could fit in. And then he looked all indignant when I smirked, and said, "HEY! Teachers have a life and listen to music too, okay?!"
...probably Techno or Shanghai Tan >D
Which led me to muse later, while I was listening to my iPod, would OUR songs ever go out of date? Like screamy songs, like Holiday or MCR-- how scary would it be if our kids next time listen and scoff at us and call things like, I dunno, Welcome to the Black Parade "old-fashioned"?! That would be just creepy.

Haha we were crossing the road today, and this car stopped behind us, and laoshi waved at us in his nerdy way. So me, Crystal and Rachel all screamed and waved back happily.

Oh my god court shoes.
I have never had problems with court shoes, but then again, up till until recently I've always been a -rather- rational person. I have never, ever, ever been captured by flights of vanity. Well, not much, anyway.
Until I saw those shoes.
I was just looking around for a new pair of court shoes, because my old ones were wearing out, and these were just so... awesome. I wish I could describe it to you. But I can't, so imagine them as you like it.
I tried them on, and immediately I was hooked. With their three-inch heels I was actually Tall. So I got them.
Then I put them in the cupboard, and forgot all about them until today. So it was the first day I was wearing my shoes, and for about a couple of hours or so, I felt beautiful and pretty and was on a court shoes high.
That is, until I went to my mum's office. I walked the length of RJC, to Marymount MRT, and then from the yellow part of Bishan station to the red part, and I stood on the train, until Raffles Place, where I walked to my mum's office.
Maybe that's not quite accurate. "Hobbled" would be a better word. Or "limped". Or "cursed myself for wearing such high shoes to walk in". Any of them, as you like it.
Now I have honking big blisters, and every step I take is Agony.
I am never going to be a bimbo again! I will never be vain ever! I am going out and buying a pair of Scholl shoes, with thick bands to hold them in place, and huge chunky heels that are perhaps all of 0.01cm high.
Sigh.
But for what it was worth, they were so awesome looking during that first hour or so.

This morning, Ms Tan came into the GO all flustered, and said to Ms Veronica: "There's a snake in the staff toilet! Can you do something about it?"
And then I started laughing.
Ms Tan continued to be very upset. "It's in the toilet bowl! It was like something out of a horror movie, I swear!" It was hilarious. I guess you had to be there. But then I begged her to let me go see the snake in the toilet, because I'd never seen a snake before, but she just looked at me in a "poor, sad, deprived child" kind of way and said, "It's gone now. I think someone must have flushed it down."
And that was even funnier.
Then Mr Azahar came out from somewhere inside the GO, and he saw me, and we both looked at the Moodleman, and he smirked, and that set me off again. It even led the Moodleman to comment that he'd never seen me smile so much (probably because there is an inverse relationship between our happiness ratings; the happier he is the sulkier I am, and vice versa. Not that it's causal, but you know.) and even then I couldn't stop laughing. So I think I really am going soft.
Hmm.
And then I went to Chinese extra class, and we kept getting distracted and asking laoshi stupid stuff, which he gamely discussed with us. Then Ms Lim popped in from next door, and asked if we were using the classroom, and said that she would use next door, all in perfect Chinese. It was quite amazing, and a little odd, because I'd never heard her speak Chinese before. (For the record, she was really good.)
So then we started discussing non-Chinese dept teachers, and how good their Chinese was. Laoshi was classifying those that we named into "bu cuo", and "bu shi hen hao". It was awesomely fun. Moodleman fell into the "bu cuo" category, which pleased Xinyuan, and upset RachelT. So did Ms Deborah Tan, to our amazement. Mrs Hoo tries, he said. And then we asked about Mr Lim, whose Chinese handouts Xinyuan gushed about, and according to laoshi his Chinese was very good. And that he had a brother who taught Chinese here, but fled to HCI after awhile.
I wish I had a relative teaching in the school too. I was hoping for my cousin to come here to teach Geog or something, so I could sashay up to the Queens Staffroom everyday, dial an extension, and go "EHH can buy me a potato? You don't have to teach this block right?" And when school was over, I would go down again and call, and go "Eheh. You have a car right? And I'm your lovely cute little cousin, right?"
But noooo, he went over to MOE, and although his classmate came here I can't possible leech rides off him can I. Plus I still can't look him in the eye because of the whole cantopop thing.

Mr Azahar is funny :D
We were reading an article about e-waste, and he asked the class "Does anyone know what e-waste is?"
Everyone was half asleep, because it was last block, and so he smiled and said, "Well, when you delete your emails, it becomes e-waste. Now let's read the rest of the article."
And the rest of the article was about how e-waste was dangerous and toxic, and polluting China, and killing tons of people worldwide.
Suddenly half the class was awake, and was all "OMG WAIT WHAT IS E-WASTE AGAIN?"
Mr Azahar looked them right in the eye, and said, "Oh, you know, when you delete all your emails?"
To help him with his definition, I added: "Yeah! Or when you delete files from your Recycle Bin? Then they can't get recycled into new documents. They become... e-waste."
Mr Azahar: "Yeah. And then all this e-waste gets sent to China..."
Me: "... which has limited space, so with the amount of e-waste that's being created everyday, they will eventually have to send some up into cyberspace..."
Mr Azahar: "...where they will then fall to earth as asteroids."
And then he let out this very evil giggle, and I burst out laughing, just like I did when Mr Lim did his deadpan "In time long past......."
That's twice in 2 days. I think I'm becoming soft. BUT THEY ARE ALL SO FUNNY.
And I quote Mr Azahar: "Um, we'll put up your worksheet on Moodle on Monday."
Everyone: "Why not now?"
Mr Azahar: "Because our Moodleman is on course."
Everyone: "Um, so?"
Mr Azahar: "Without the Moodleman, we can't put it up on Moodle because none of us know how to use Moodle. Except the Moodleman. Mr Tommy Lee."
Gosh haha I love having funny teachers!

My Art paper was SOOOOOO HARD.
I had COMPLETELY NO IDEA what it was going to be about.
Plus the instructions were SOOOOOOOOO STRICT.
Yeah okay this is what really happened. I rushed down at 3:00, because I thought that was when the paper was going to start, but I found the Art Room locked. After moping around for awhile, I went to buy a baked potato, for reasons so unmentionable that I cannot say them out, which also saves me from making one up (YEAHHH MR LIM'S STORY FTW)
And then as I was buying it, I saw Ms Tong unlock the Art Room, so I grabbed my potato and ran to ask her if I had time to eat my potato before the exam. She just gave me a weird look and said, "Lesson starts at 3:30." I NEVER KNEW OKAY I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS 3:15.
Then she added: "But the exam will probably start at around 4:00. I want to go through the answers to your FA with you all. You might -nudge, nudge- find them important for the test. Or you can start your test now! And go home early!"
...yah. Damn strict.
But I opted to be a potato-eater (HAHAHA VAN GOGH) along with the rest, who went outside to eat cookies and stuff.
And then after that, we went back in, and we went through all the answers for our FA, and she gave out the papers. We turned it over, and...
All of us collectively went "Uhhh..." because all the questions there were exactly the same as in the FA. So I spent the rest of the 2 hours regurgitating the answers she had already gone through with us.
I even took a short powernap halfway okay!

I was bored, so I went searching for the Kanji equivalent of my Chinese name.
Apparently in Jap it reads You Haisou. (That's You as in the hanyupinyin you, not you as in "HEY YOU!") Not like any of them are still actually in use in Japan, but still. It's nice to know.
It sounds quite cute!
Anyway I think I'm addicted to YouTube again. I was, ahem, doing research and studying for Bio, and somehow I ended up listening to the PCR Song and GTCA. And then I went on to search for nerdy songs, and I found Mathematicious, which is a GEM.
"I get the answer RIGHT RIGHT, and I'll be staying up all night, just to check. What. I Write. MATHEMATICIOUS."
Ooh, and "Hold hold hold hold up. CHECK YOUR WORK! :D"
Plus who can forget "I Will Derive"?
...Am I turning into a geek?

Oh I forgot to post about 2 things.
1. I can't tell time.
This started during Art last week. We ran out of paper on the printer, so I nicely volunteered to go up to the GO to get paper. (Actually I just wanted to go for a walk.) But so I went up, and Ms Christina was there, so she got me a huge stack of paper.
But in the GO, I saw Ms Ong, Mr Lim and some other teacher, so I cheerfully greeted them all with a generic "Good morning teachers!" Let it not be said that I don't respect my teachers.
Then Ms Ong looked at her watch, and said, "Victoria, it's afternoon."
Bah. So I had to re-greet, after checking that it was indeed afternoon. And they all smirked! Even Mr Lim, who didn't even look up from his book!!!! D: I did, however, get my stack of paper, so yeah.
Part 2 took place this afternoon. I saw Ms Ong while walking up the stairs, so again I greeted her "GOOD MORNING MS ONG!"
She just hollered after me: "AFTERNOON."

2. RMUN
RMUN Fashion Parade! The theme this year is (Insert Country Name) goes Gaga. So Denise apparently googled "Lady Gaga Denmark", and this is what she wore: A skin coloured leotard and a jacket over it, so it looked as though she was wearing, um, nothing.
But never fear! We have awesome ideas, and a self-proclaimed "slutty" model!
We are all going to sing "DEN, DEN, DEN DEN MAAAAARK, to the tune of Bad Romance, and for the finale Crystal will shoot Denmark flags out of her boobs.
I SPOT A WINNER HERE.

I have finally discovered why I don't really like my younger cousin. He reeks of male chauvinism.
I don't consider myself a feminist-- in fact my secret dream is to become a Bukit Timah tai tai and spend my days going for manicures and pedicures, and looking after my 2.5 kids in our Upp Bukit Timah bungalow, but you get the point.
But there was always SOMETHING about my cousin which drove me off the edge. Maybe it was his equivalent of name dropping-- you know, people try to name drop in conversations "Oh, yeah, my best friend Obama..." and it gets so annoying, but my cousin drops, uh, parts of the male anatomy.
I thought we'd all gotten over that stage in P4 when people went around whispering "Tits" in others' ears, but it appears NOT. Or at least my cousin hasn't, anyway. It's like we'll be just walking, and all of a sudden, he leans over and says in this furtive tone: "Penis."
I MEAN, WHAT?!?
Well, I reasoned, I put up with it in P4, so I can put up with my cousin for a couple of weeks. After all, we passed that stage (most of us, at any rate) within a few days, so a few weeks should be generous enough.
But NOOOOO, it's been a YEAR, and I still can't have a proper conversation with him without having to hear the words "balls", or "penis", or other assorted parts of the male anatomy. In fact, he just told a joke about someone collecting rocks of various sizes, I suspect, just to give himself an excuse to say the word "balls" again. (If you haven't already guessed, somehow the rocks got turned into his balls and he ended up with balls of uneven sizes. I don't see what's so funny about that; as long as sperm can be produced then WHATEVER LA! Then again, it's a purely biological point of view, and not having balls myself I obviously can't sympathize.)

I think Mr Lim (the Philo one, not the pregnant one) must hate our class!
We were doing Divine Command Theory during Philo today, and he took out his Mac Pro, and half the class gasped. Well I personally did-- or sighed gladly, because being a Maclitist myself I immediately have a higher opinion of other fellow Maclitists :D
And then he showed us this argument map regarding DCT, and it was totally cool because the premises would slide from one to another in this very Keynote-ish way. So everytime that happened, the class went "Oooooooh." collectively. It's a normal response to everything as sexy as that transition.
Mr Lim accidentally pressed some keys, and the premises zoomed out in this awfully sexy transition, and the whole class nearly fainted in awe. He saw this, rolled his eyes, and then said in this long suffering tone: "Fine, I'll show you all how it's done. Later."
So at the end of the lesson, once we finished DCT, he gave out handouts for functionalism and told us to read them now for the next lesson, but none of us could concentrate because we all wanted to find out how he made those sexy transitions. RachelT put up her hand and said in this totally sheepish tone: "Um, Mr Lim? Uh, heh, uh, you know you, uh, told us just know, heh, that you'd, um, show us... :D"
Mr Lim rolled his eyes again and sighed. "It's just a website." And then he showed it to us, cueing more oohing from us.
And then we pressed him for more details as to how it was done, like whether you had to insert secret passcodes or anything, because it was just WAY COOL. He just rolled his eyes again and said, "I dunno, I just give it a command, and then the thing just moves by itself-"
And half the class said simultaneously: "Yes, but do you give the command because it is morally right, or is it morally right BECAUSE you give the command? :D" (Reference to DCT, and basically what we were talking about for the whole lesson) He spluttered for awhile, and cried "IT'S MORALLY NEUTRAL. THERE JUST AREN'T ANY RIGHT OR WRONG WEBSITE COMMANDS." and shooed us out. Heh.

Mr Lee is such a topper.
I came into school today feeling zombified.
I didn't sleep the whole night-- someone called JUST as I was about to fall asleep, and once you get past a certain time you can't fall asleep-- and so I was totally justified in dragging my feet a LITTLE, and maybe just giving people a fish eyed stare a LITTLE. Tchuh.
And then Mr Lee came in, and thought I was being emo again.
So I told him I was just doubly sick, because the medicine for my sore throat causes ulcers, and he just nodded sagely and said, "Hmm. Yes, it does."
I didn't disagree, and no one else did, because everyone knows how much more, uh, experienced, Mr Lee is in terms of bad health.
And then he suddenly turned around, smiled really big, and said, "Incidentally, I have ulcers in my throat too!" before grinning and walking off again.
Sigh. It seems that whatever ailments one has, Mr Lee must have too. Bleh.

Mr Lim was sulking yesterday because we pestered him about IPPT. After quite a lot of wheedling on our part, he said all pissedly "FINE I FAILED!! HAPPY?" I was happy for him, because passing IPPT is not all it's cracked up to be, and seriously, who cares.
But as he sulked, we pestered him to tell us his fail 2.4 timing, and again after much wheedling he told us, but without forgetting to qualify it: "Hey, remember that I JUST HAD A BABY OKAY."
We all sat there stunned for awhile before someone recovered her wits and pointed out that Mr Lim had, in fact, not played any major part that involved carrying a baby around for 9 months in the pregnancy. And then he just went into a sulk again.

Looking back through my Facebook photos I suddenly remembered that I used to have long hair.
Looking back at that sentence, I suddenly wondered how I managed to forget that. I blame stress, and schoolwork.
Anyway, I was reading my old RGS prospectus-- when it was written it was still RGS, RI, RJC. Actually one of the reasons I chose RGS was that it gave a pretty prospectus for me to look at. I spent hours reading it and rereading it, and feeling so excited about studying all the things they said they would teach us.
But hey-- they lied. Under the curriculum for IT, they SAID they would teach us Programming in Year 1. I NEVER LEARNT PROGRAMMING IN YEAR 1. I spent my ICT lessons reading my EMAIL. And in Year 2, I was supposed to have learnt "Advanced Computer Programming." HAH. I SCOFF. Because learning "include" is TOTALLY advancing programming. And that wasn't even during ICT lessons.
But, well, at least the rest of the curricula seems quite accurate. Plus the Bio curriculum for J1 and 2 sounds waaaaay more interesting than the Physics one (Measurement, Thermal Physics, Kinematics, yawn.) And so I'm leaning towards BCME. But I also want to do Physics, so I can be like a supergenius and do comscience in Uni.
The CCAs at RJC seem quite interesting though. They classified "Chess" as a "sport". Heh. And there is a very very suspicious CCA that reads "R(A) Magazine".
I digress. I'm actually supposed to be picking out photos to stick in the prospectus for Art, which I will then edit to bring across a STATEMENT. And as you probably have guessed, the statement is probably going to be of the angsty variety-- there are hardly any happy statements in Art. I sometimes wonder why artists are so angsty.
It wasn't my idea though, not really. My teacher suggested it, because she saw I had a copy of Spiral. And then she just went on describing the idea to herself as her eyes glazed over with happiness. Suddenly she just stopped and went in this totally scary voice: "That's the kind of artwork that will surely get banned. CENSORSHIP!"
Me: "Uh, but if it's going to get banned, why would I-"
Teacher: "-BANNED ARTWORK IS THE BEST KIND THERE IS! DO IT."
Or something like that. So although she's assured me that it won't get banned, because it's "art", I still hope the school won't call me in for a "little chat" with the principal. Because really, I think the school's quite okay after all.

Year 3 RALit was having a talk about putting Frankenstein on trial, so being kaypoh we came over to crash.
In my opinion, the whole case against Frankenstein, by the creature, is basically hearsay, and should completely be disregarded. If I were the judge, I would say something like, "I dismiss the whole case on the basis that it is all hearsay. Let's go for cake and hot chocolate." and there would be none of this trial business at all. Man, am I cut out for a career in the judiciary OR WHAT.
And besides, the Creature is totally suing for the wrong things (malpractice, negligence, emotional trauma) I say go for breach of contract-- say that Frankie SAID that he'd make you a girlfriend, but he destroyed it at the last minute, that cheating swine! And then sue the pants off Frankie, and ask for like 5 gazibillion dollars in damages.
Frankie also shouldn't just be a passive, uh, defendant. I say he ought to sue the Creature back, for theft. After all, the Creature DID take Frankie's notes and labcoat when he awoke and ran out to the forest. And then we could start this huge lawsuit, and the judge would be totally embroiled in it and never have time to go for cake and hot chocolate.

I was watching Phineas and Ferb on Disney Channel just now, and they were having some music video special where they played the top 10 music videos, and Major Monogram (?) and Doofenshmirtz (?) were hosting. I love Dr. D. He reminds me sooooo much of Kevin, who is utterly lovable in tiny doses.
And to my immense satisfaction, I realised that I actually REMEMBERED most of the music videos. Like Squirrels in My Pants, Ready for the Bettys, Ain't Got Rhythm, and whee Gittchi Gittchi Goo.
It set me reminiscing about my lovely childhood, when I sat and watched Phineas and Ferb all day, and knew all the lyrics, and completely hero-worshipped Perry. It seemed all so long ago...
...And then I realised I only started watching Phineas and Ferb when I got cable, which was when I was in Sec 2.
Heh.
