confessions of an (airheaded) mugger

Bet you thought this was going to be witty. But in the interest of Internet safety and all that jazz, I shall refrain from divulging highly sensitive information, including age, telephone number, and weight. I guess a name is ok though; how else will you know it's me? (But seriously, kids, don't talk to strange old men on the Internet)
I do adore owls though. But you already knew that so I guess that's ok too.

Polyalthia longifolia
Friday, November 30, 2012

My cousin posted a picture of a tree on Facebook with a caption: "HELP! Anyone knows what tree this is?"

Generally, I am not very close to my cousins considering there's a 10-20 year age gap between us, but I could never resist showing off, so I was determined to find the tree if it was the last thing I did. So I appealed to Yuhui with a picture of the tree: "HELP ID THIS THANKS"

He replied that it was hard to ID, and IDing stuff isn't just a matter of input-photo-output-name. Psh excuses my dad can input-photo-output-name (within a suitable error margin, haha), but since Papa wasn't around I had to make do with Google and unhelpful friends.

So how does a bimbo ID things? Well, she goes to Google, and enters all the littlest details she can find, in the hopes that other bimbos somewhere around the world have once tried to ID the same plant too. "Tree with fern-like leaves", "Leaves with wavy edges"- amazingly, the second result threw up a picture of leaves that looked remarkably like those on the tree my cousin had to ID, so, yay! Bingo!!

Just when I was about to gloat to Yuhui at my success he copypasted a link into the chatbox that lead to the exact same picture I was looking at. He found it by googling "Tree with long leaves".

But bimbo moments aside, I put on my best Bio nerd front and commented on my cousin's status: "It's Polyalthia longifolia," as if it were my best friend. :) Gosh this is how people seem smart :D :D :D

If my cousin asks me how the hell I know this sort of thing, I should just breezily wave it away and say, "Oh, we memorised all the names of all the trees in Singapore FOR FUN..."

But then again she might come and ask me every time she has a tree to ID, and I would die because I abhor IDing stuff. Unlike JLoh, during the interhouse Bio Quiz this year- MR was totally owning and we were going to win with a total of 20 points, when the teacher in charge was like "Oh this last question involves identification of an orchid, and it is worth 20 POINTS..." The entire LT stared at the scrawny orchid and was silent, but JLoh stood up like a boss and boomed the name of the orchid while the entire LT just stared at him in awe.

I have been going to the gym and looping "Sexy and I Know It" while walking on the elliptical machine. Knowledge is justified, true belief, therefore, if I know that I am sexy it must be true.

Okay admittedly 3 months of butt-chair contact isn't going to lose itself because I have gymmed for 30 mins, but IT IS A START. Someday I will be able to sing "Sexy and I Know It" and possess a JTB for real- except the part about having a "passion in my pants".

Gosh, I really hope the fellow gym users cannot lip read.

PROM IS 7 DAYS AWAY, according to the slightly strange video Council has been putting up. With the second instalment it kinda got clearer, but as Yuhui pointed out, it's a bit late to change your decision on whether one is "going to prom?", as stated at the end of the video for dramatic impact. Unless, of course, one changes their mind and decides not to go after all. It was quite sad when the post immediately above the prom promo vid in the batch group turned out to be someone selling their prom ticket.

Also, if the guy in the video wants to ask someone out to prom, it's also a tad late considering tables have mostly been booked already, so HURRY UP. It's 7 days to prom and I still don't really understand the video.

Okay hmm am probably going to sleep for the night then, toodles! BTW is anyone going to the S Rajaratnam Lecture tomorrow? So far I haven't found anyone else, but then again I haven't really been asking around.

GOING SHOPPING WITH KOR IS TERRIFYING! Okay yesterday we went with Yuhui and Yiwye as well, and while Yuhui bought a vest within like half an hour, kor was still picky and wanted to go to Zara.

We went to Zara, and there was the most gorgeous grey blazer... Which cost $299. James was willing to pay for it, but we convinced him to not blow away his billions and check out H&M, which sometimes has nice stuff for cheaper. So we pressed our faces against the glass doors of ION's new H&M, and saw one grey lookalike that cost $119!

Excitedly we walked over to 313's H&M, but they didn't have that blazer (apparently its new) and the boys were sulking at having to walk so far, so kor didn't buy anything.

I went home, cracked open a newspaper, and discovered that ION's H&M is opening today! So yeah, here I am, on the train to Orchard to continue shopping part 2.

I was hyper productive this morning in anticipation of shopping- woke up early, went to the gym, and showered and was doing my hair when James texted: "at orchard alr". It was 1140 and we agreed to meet at 1230. -.-

Luckily that bitch was only messing with my head; he'd just boarded the train, but he ended up reaching half an hour earlier than I did anyway. Because he "doesn't like making people wait".

Sigh haha whoever my kor ends up dating is freaking lucky! Also because he looks hot in a blazer HAHA I have good fashion sense and chose a nice one :D Yuhui helped arrange him nicely though, like pulling out his collar and straightening it- he snapped at me "don't touch!!" when I tried to help. SO POSSESSIVE.

OKAY I am at orchard now, so, BYE.

I'm at the mum's office lobby waiting for a ride home because I don't have the body needed to squeeze into a train at rush hour.

The girl in the chair opposite me is sizing me up- I think I have failed the test because while she is dressed in a sleeveless top, pencil skirt, and heels, I am wearing school uniform (a most unflattering cut) and sneakers. Yeah I wore school uniform to study at NLB today. To be honest having a school uniform saves you a lot of stress in deciding what to wear- I think my hair will turn white in uni when I have to decide what to wear everyday.

Kidding lah I am not as fashion-comatose (hurhur, worse than unconscious) as all that. EDB interviews were today and the dress code was school uniform/office wear, and I didn't want to pick out office wear... Okay, maybe I am just fashion-in-a-deep-sleep.

Walking to my mum's office entails walking against the peak hour crowd from the MRT. It is super good exercise because looking at that throng of people surging towards you is a cardio workout in itself. But today, after reading a Weird Horse tweet ("Sometimes when I gallop really fast I forget I'm a horse and think I'm a graceful swan gliding over green pastures"), and a Cranberry White Chocolate Mocha Frappucino (I thought it didn't have coffee- turns out "mocha" means coffee) I started feeling a bit like a salmon swimming upstream to its place of birth, where it mates and then dies or something.

Salmon are known to leap over small falls and swim against the current- sometimes right into the mouths of bears. On one of my rare forays onto Nat Geo, I saw a fish leap into a bear's mouth and was like "lol, stupid."

On a side note, there are plenty of millipedes crowding around my mum's office nowadays. They're digging some MRT and this has unleashed the wrath of the Millipede King. Nah lol it just destroyed the millipedes' homes, and now they are crawling around confusedly. One came up to us while we were waiting to cross the traffic light this morning, and the mum poked it with a shoe. It turned around and confusedly went back the same way it came. Poor thing; I think it must have crawled a lot to get to that place but oh well. Better than being crushed under a stiletto heel.

Waiting
Sunday, November 25, 2012

I have never truly appreciated how much courage it takes to wait patiently in a sea of uncertainty- it is the sort of thing you say to someone when you yourself are sure of your outcome, or when you have been unknowingly waiting because you didn't know the end was so near.

But knowing that you are approaching it, that is the worst, for you are always on your toes wherever you go. It is this indeterminable waiting that I hate.

I feel like my faith is being tested. I suppose it is. I am not usually an outrightly religious person, but I will say it now: my faith is being tested, and I will not give in; you cannot scare me and I must have the courage to wait. And I believe- I have faith- that regardless of what others say, I will have news by the end of this week.

Okay I know my papers are not over yet but a lot of my friends' papers are and they are all worrying about prom so I think it's perfectly logical that some of the prom worries have caught on! In any case prom is only 2 WEEKS AWAY.

And for some reason, during this entire mugging period, I have been eating more and feeling hungrier even though the most vigorous exercise I've done is an MCQ marathon. So I think I have grown fatter.

Hence on Rachtan's advice, I went to the gym and ran for 12 mins, and then did loads of stretches. I discovered 2 things that day: firstly, I am forever going to be a kiasu student because instead of running 12 mins I ran 15, and that I CANNOT TOUCH MY TOES ANYMORE.

Man this is painful for me (and I don't just mean that my thighs are like on fire whenever I try) because I used to be flexible thanks to ballet!!!! ):

Okay I am going to gym regularly now that I have more spare time, and I am going to be kiasu and run extra and stretch extra and perhaps, with a miracle and high metabolism, I will someday have Hyuna's legs!

Also I need to learn how to properly walk in heels, because months of studying and walking around in Skechers has majorly killed my balance. I can walk, but I cannot STRUT.

Again I was a diligent student and I went to watch videos of Hyuna walking so that I could learn from the master and someday learn how to Strut Like Hyuna. But damn it is hard. For one, her voice in Gangnam Style annoys me and I had to listen to videos of The Voice for awhile after that to calm myself down. And Bubble Pop is just so suggestive I cannot watch it without feeling dirty.

Sometimes it is tough being a girl ):

Progeny
Thursday, November 22, 2012

Argh organic mechanisms DO NOT COME INTUITIVELY despite so much work!! If I ever have kids I will train them from young to be comfy with mechanisms, and instead of "papa" their first word will be "piperidine".

Instead of reading primers like Dick and Jane they will read CAMPBELL. I will quiz them on a chapter per night and if they cannot recite it backwards they will have to practice an additional hour of piano for every word they get wrong.

Lol jk future kid. Because you will never get a word wrong, amirite?

OKAY MECHANISMS LET'S GO I must gain some genius to pass on to my progeny. CAN'T SPELL PROGENY WITHOUT "PRO".

Hyuna
Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Have been bitching to the mum about my prom dress. After watching the Hyuna Gangnam Style video she was all like "Oh Hyuna's dress very pretty leh. Why don't you dress like Hyuna."

Sigh sadly I am looking more like Psy than Hyuna at the moment. Nol summed it up quite aptly when he went "I'M GROWING FAT! FAT! All my muscles are gone!" and then proceeded to squish his own fats with added sound effects.

Me (simultaneously): "Nail polish remover."

Aiya.

I'm already trying as hard as I can. I wish things came to me with effortless intuition and grace but sadly things just don't work that way. And I'm trying, I really am, but it doesn't seem to be working?

I am kind of sick of trying, you know-

10:27 PM
Bro

Deenie is one of the best friends ever she just spent a whole night educating me about gaming and makeup and hair and nail polish and just about everything a girl needs to know in life!

Well, okay, not so much gaming, but she says it's because I don't have a bro to teach me this sort of stuff, like the difference between FPS and MMORPG and what COWMD3 stands for.

Cos my kor is freaking out over geog paper now. Jiayou jiayou kor you can do it!! -waves pom poms-

Never actually felt the detriments to being an only child (in fact I rather liked all the attention, and I fought viciously with my cousin when he tried to steal some affection, so I think I -might- have bitten my brother if I had one) but now I kinda see the benefits of having siblings!

But only insofar as I am the younger one and my duties extend to sitting at their knees, wide-eyed and innocent, a receptacle for the knowledge they have to impart.

Though as I told Deenie, any bro of mine is more likely to tell me about the Fibonacci sequence than FPS.

Yes I said I wouldn't listen to it because it would pain me too much if I didn't get to go in the end but I CANNOT RESIST.

To steal a line from the Tufts' admissions officer's blog, I wanted to list my favourite parts, but then I realised the entire thing IS my favourite part.

Oh my god the passion. It makes me want to sweep all my notes and books off the piano and learn how to play this. Now. My notes and books are all stacked on top of the piano because I have no other study tables and bookshelves.

Tears and tears and tears. Chills. My god, I have to listen to this guy.

Bah bah bah just when I thought I was done with personal statements NUS and NTU have opened apps and I have to write more!!

I am all written out- I have spent the past few days writing Econs essays and case studies and Chem paper 3 and EVERY SINGLE BIO ESSAY, yes you read that right- all the learning outcomes! (BTW Bio students if you want it, I can send it to you! Drop me a mail. Good karma, amirite?)

How can I write when all I can think about is fields of waving wheat?? Beethoven's 5 Secrets by the Piano Guys. It is my inspiration. The look on the guy's face while he's playing the cello is so motivational I feel like I should have the same kind of passion about everything I do, or I'll be letting down myself.

Sigh all the cheapo tickets to Zimerman have been sold out! SHIBA SCREAM. The cheapest is like $88 or something? I had to stop myself from clicking "replay" on Zimerman's rendition of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 because it was so beautiful and if I don't get to go in the end I will cry buckets and buckets and I will SHIBA SCREAM.

Haha I was reading about Shiba inus when I was bored of mugging, and apparently if you displease a Shiba inu it will emit a high pitch scream that sounds like something being exorcised.

Speaking of exorcisms, Yuhui and I went to pay our respects to Mr Sim a while ago- okay by "pay our respects" I mean we actually just sat around his room and took up space and made lewd jokes about closets. Mr Sim went out for awhile, came back, and reported that some Christian cell group was singing holy songs outside. "I don't know what they do that for; they've been singing for so long and they still haven't exorcised me yet. Me. The Banshee of Bishan."

Awhile later, they were still singing, and Mr Sim mused what would happen if he went outside and pretended to be possessed and peed on them.

No he didn't actually pee on them. Not then. Oh he did make us tea though, and to repay him we brought the cups and stuff to the toilet and washed them. Yuhui scraped out all the tea leaves into the toilet bowl but horror of horrors, it wouldn't flush, and Hubert and I sheepishly trooped back to inform Mr Sim about it, and he rolled his eyes and came to see what the matter was. As soon as he stepped into the toilet, the flush suddenly started working.

There may be something to his calling himself Mr "Divine" Sim.

6:14 PM
Whatsapp again

The mum got a Samsung S3 because it was pretty and matched her car. She is learning how to use whatsapp. I gave her a quick tutorial last night by sending her a photo and she just looked at it and went "Eeee so cute!!" and laughed and probably didn't pay attention at all.

I asked her this morning if she knew how to use the phone, and she morosely replied, "I'll ask around".

ZIMERMAN ZIMERMAN I WANT TO WATCH ZIMERMAN!!! Also he is playing Beethoven's 7th aFhsskshahdogjaja as if I needed any more reason than that!!!

After watching Nodame Cantabile I have always wanted to watch a live performance of Beethoven's 7th! Because Nodame and Chiaki senpai are soooo cuteeee togetherrr. Also the 2nd movement is just lovely ohmygawd.

I would watch the performance even if it were played by a toddler on a glockenspiel.

Okay maybe not; glocks sound SO annoying. But well this is a sign! Since it is coming to Singapore it means that I MUST WATCH IT and renew my love for the piano and also MARATHON NODAME CANTABILE.

Jie and I were talking about primary school over lunch- it is strange to think that for all our festivities and Rosyth Rows, we actually never took much notice of each other in primary school beyond knowing that the other person existed, somewhere at the periphery of our lives, something like the unjustified beliefs at the edges of a coherentist web.

Jie: "Haha, GEP kids were so nerdy. Half of them were in AMEC. Did you know about AMEC?" (AMEC stands for, uh, "Advanced Math Enrichment Club")
Me: "Uh yah I was in AMEC!! Wait you mean YOU were in AMEC?" (Yah I was in Math Club shut up stop laughing)
Jie: "Yeah! With Joshua Ng and Joshua Foo and Caleb and like just about everyone else."
Me: "Haha true. AMEC was like GEP club lah. Oh and Science Club and Chess Club!! Half our batch was in Science Club, and the other half was in Chess Club."
Jie: "You were in Science Club meh?"
Me: "No lah, I was in Chess Club. You were in Science ah?"
Jie: "No, I was in Chess. ._."
Me: "Oh! I remember after PSLE there was this gang of nerds who used to set up rows of chessboards and play some mega transfer chess game every day! Please tell me you weren't in there."
Jie: "I WAS! It was super fun okay I teamed up with Kai Jun and we owned the other two people! But haha, I remember there were so many cliques then- there was the chess group at 1 corner of the classroom, and then a couple of loners, and then the noisy clique in the middle... were you part of the noisy clique?"
Me: "Hmm... Edward taught Rachel and Crystal and Celine and me to play the guitar. Does that count as noisy?"
Jie: "Yes."
Me: "Whoops. Then I was the noisy clique."

I swear, this has more missed crossings than 5 Korean dramas put together. Despite being in the same CCAs for 3 years we never actually NOTICED each other until JC. There are so many missed crossings that we are like some epic recombinant chiasmata. HAHA. I should probably study less Bio.

Oh I am trying to mug every single learning outcome and plan and hopefully MEMORISE an essay for every one of them!!!! No one has ever said "Damn, I wish I hadn't mugged so much for Bio," right?

Anyway, I am feeling slightly mushy and happy today, so Jie, if you see this, I'm quite glad I met you in the end :D AH OKAY it must be the rain. I always feel happy when it rains. Can't wait for Christmas and the rainy season~~~

No, sorry, "trying my best" just isn't good enough. Because its reached the point where I can't just hide my grades anymore if I don't want to show them- if I miss one the whole world will know and I will be faced with those terrible condescending people who gush about how sad it is but they are actually really just laughing at your failure, and rub it in by emphasizing how they managed to get their grades with inhumanly little effort. "Trying my best" isn't enough, okay, it has to be that or nothing. Yes, I am faring worse that I did in prelims- my essays have been reproductions of my previous work, I have been careless. I hope that makes you feel happier when you cheer about getting a question right that I got wrong. So perhaps I'm not smart enough for you, is that what you're saying? Really, to hell with all that- if I were smart enough I would have flobbed my way through prelims so that I wouldn't have to deal with people breezily brushing it off with "oh you'll get your As" or some pathetic reference to a bell curve god, because how the hell do you even know where you stand on a bell curve? Maybe I'm just mediocre; somewhere at the middle part where you kind of fall off easily, and yes I suppose I was never good enough for you.

9:07 PM
A&f

Lunched with Rachel and Crystal and Shiyuan, who crashed as we were leaving school!

Sigh haha I keep calling him Shitty in my head, because that's what we used to call him in primary school- he tried to christen himself Thamsy but somehow that didn't catch on till later and now it reminds me of Mr Tham.

Shiyuan needed to get a present for his brother, so we trawled all the guy clothes shops from ION all the way to H&M.

We stopped by A&F, and oh my god that is an experience I never want to have again. It was really dim- I shall never understand how people see enough to shop inside. And I am partially night-blind, and earlier I'd picked out all of the carrots in my soup, so my night vision was practically shot and I was stumbling around everything. Crystal walked into a mirror.

And then besides the dimness, the whole place was blaring loud techno music, and it was like someone opened 500 bottles of cologne and poured it all over the place. (someone near me during math was wearing Really Strong Cologne, and it smelt so bad oh god. Doing math with one hand trying to stealthily cover your nose isn't easy)

And there was a giant statue of Michaelangelo's David, extra big so that his, uh, schlong was right in everyone's face.

And then all the A&F models kept going "hey, how you doin'?" and even Crystal and Rachel agreed that it felt mildly... prostitute-like.

I felt so unholy just for walking in .___.

Sigh haha this is a sign that I will never be able to lead the life of a shopaholic diva, and I should just go home and slouch over Chem.

I was reading a collection of Murakami short stories that day in the library, and there was this short passage about a very holy mother trying to describe to her son how he was conceived, and she basically goes:

"Well, I had knowledge of this man, and then I had knowledge of another man, and then after that I had knowledge of many other men..."

And all the time I was reading it I was thinking about all my KI notes and how awkward this was hahahaha.

9:58 PM
ki crossover
Monday, November 05, 2012

Ok this year's KI crossover question to GP was answered by surprisingly many people: "Consider the view that Mathematics possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty." Math, uh, lovers saw the word "Math" and made a beeline straight for that question. But like all KI crossover questions I think it was probably one of the hardest questions. In fact most of the KI people I asked (erm, read: Me and Yuhui) agreed that we would NOT have written the question.

And since I'm kaypoh and want to hop on the bandwagon and discuss GP things (Haha, I tweeted #savagebreast just to get in the fun), here is why:

1. This is essentially an amalgamation of 2 essays: Discuss the view that Mathematics possesses truth, and Discuss the view that Mathematics possesses beauty. Each of this is worth an essay in itself and are both Not Easy To Write.

2. You are working with 2 very distinct concepts; the essay outlines I have seen so far assume that if Math holds truth, it must hold beauty. But beauty and truth are actually not related, and if you want to use the convenient "beauty is truth, and truth; beauty" premise here, you need to prove it in some way beyond quoting Keats.

3. Beauty and truth are both concepts that are hard to define. In fact my entire Aesthetics essay for Prelims centered around the premise that Beauty had no agreed-upon definition. Slapping on a convenient "beauty is simplicity/elegance" will not make for a very critical essay. Likewise- truth in Mathematics. Are you looking for objective truth, or subjective truth?

4. There are 2! = 4 possible combinations (hur hur, P&C) of positions: Math is true + beautiful, Math is untrue but beautiful, Math is true \ beautiful (backslash is shorthand for exclude), Math is \true \beautiful. And while you don't have to refute each of them in turn, you still need to deal with them to a certain extent.

5. Risk of example-driven essay. Dunno if this is fine for GP but will not cut it in KI, and since this is essentially a KI question, I am holding it to KI standards.

--

I suppose a possible way of approaching this would be to consider each of the schools of thought of Math is turn, and discuss whether beauty is possible for each of them... also taking into account the different ideas of beauty! I would pair the Form of Beauty with Platonism, and Beauty as Simplicity with Constructivism (or rather, the LACK of beauty- constructivist proofs are uglehh) and Beauty as a state of being that we labour towards with Math in general- the whole problem solving enterprise is a desire for answers.

But ultimately I would argue point 3 above: that beauty and truth are in no way related and that this entire notion of finding beauty in math is merely a hangover from Platonian ideals equating the beautiful, true, and good (which are now thought to be analogous, but not exactly the same).

And that would take you a good 3000 words to do- i.e. an IS.

8:19 PM
Male chauvinist piglet

There is a boy in the bus queue behind me, making a speech in his little pompous P5 voice: "The first in any bus queue can only be a man. The bus driver can also only be a man. In fact, the only people who can hold jobs are men."

I'm hardly a bra-burning militant feminist, but I turned around and glared at him.

Pompous kid did not realise and continued: "Oh, wait, there is one job for women: CLEANERS."

If looks could burn, his bra would be in flames now. (yes, the kid has moobs)

His mother is just staring into the distance while murmuring "yes, dear". I suppose it is a defense mechanism when your kid is given to making speeches in a most annoying voice, but if my future son ever tried that I would challenge him to a duel to the death to prove my superiority.

Stupid male chauvinists. I hope your future girlfriend is smarter than you and hotter than you (ok not hard) so that you may learn a valuable lesson about respecting people equally irregardless of gender.

I know I've posted this before, but I was just listening to it and watching the opening scene while studying for KI: "Don't only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets. For it and knowledge can raise men to the divine."

Never just do math problems, or read science textbooks. Force your way into their secrets; question everything they stand for; discredit the axioms upon which all of Math is based. "And then, what's left?", some people will ask.

What's left is the knowledge that you have gone further than those who do things for the sake of them. You have plumbed the secrets of your arts. And what's left is a certain feeling of sublimity. Like when you stare from the top of a mountain down into a vast and unfamiliar valley. The sublime, says Iris Murdoch, is a realisation of a vast and varied reality that you do not understand. It fills you with terror and exhilaration and spiritual power. And then, you feel a "defiant pride in the freedom of reason". You experience a larger consciousness of the dignity of your rationality; in the midst of the sublime, you are forced to become un-self-centered.

Thank you, KI, for the past 2 years. It has been fun. Even tearing my hair out over readings where the author takes 9 pages to get to her point (though I must say, Murdoch's point about the sublime is wonderful).

Also sitting in a pool of sunlight in SFL, flipping through a picture book on Art, looking for the world like a contented student in an RI prospectus.

Also having a fangirly crush on a wonderful writer and writing about him in 3 consecutive essays.

Also looking up the text of 论语 and slowly copying it onto my worksheet above the direct translations (I once marvelled to Mr Tham about the sheer denseness of Chinese- the magic is lost in cumbersome translations) and savouring every single word.

Also making Mrs Kwan sigh loudly and mutter, "KI students. Every year." when Yuhui and I cried out that Math is all a fiction in class.

Also for being the only subject which truly encompasses every other subject- for being the only subject that I studied in 3 languages- for allowing me to write lovely essays, odes to the secrets that others before me have plumbed and wanted to share with the world. For that is why they wrote, and that is why I will write on Monday.

That, and knowledge, will raise men to the divine.

Friday, November 02, 2012

Reports of my prowess have been greatly exaggerated; the following is an SMS exchange between me anda friend in Hwachong who I have not spoken to in some time.

Joshua: "I see you made it onto the KS Bull"
Me: "What how do you know"
Joshua: "I am your rabid KI groupie"
Me: "I am most touched"
Joshua: "Don't be you deserve it all"
Me: "Shirts with my face across them?"
Joshua: "And a stick to beat off the stalkers"
...
Joshua: "Do you really have this mental archive of examples to call upon when needed in your essay"
Me: "What dumb fan has been telling you that"
Joshua: "Stresemann? French Revolution?"
Me: "Oh. Well yah I know those but it's hardly vast"
Joshua: "Did you do much post exam editing"
Me: "Yah I changed the date of the holocaust because I had written 1942-1945 and got caught"
Joshua: "Ah. Iz gud essay."

SIGH I REALLY HOPE I CAN REPLICATE THIS FEAT ON MONDAY. Like I read my old essays, and I go like, omg, how did I write that??!!!
